S3 Tyre Wear

So I found a small nick in the outside edge of my front passenger tyre that had been on since i bought the car, it was showing threads so I got both fronts replaced, the rears were on ~5mm still.

2x Michellin PS3's on the front at ~32,800 miles - currently on 36,000 and there is about 3mm left on them (3.5mm and 4mm quoted by audi when it was in the garage at 35k miles), is this even considered remotely ok wear? I drive almost 100% twisty welsh roads but don't generally drive like a tit.

The car is in next friday for a service and a 4 wheel laser alignment at awesome gti (assuming the alignment is wayyy out or something given this wear, and in the last week or so without having had a knock, the car will go to the left if the steering wheel is centered).

Is this rediculous wear characteristic of bad alignment or could i realistically only expect 7k miles out of a set of PS3s on admittedly bad roads? Everything I see on here is people getting 12k+ miles out of a set of decent tyres with some people hitting 15k+ but I figure they drive a lot of motorways...

The rears are not wearing at anything like the same rate which is to be expected given the front wheel bias but still...

I think they are wearing slightly more on the outside but not that much, honestly when I had the tyres brand new they didnt "look" as if they had 8mm of tread at all, looked more like about 6-6.5mm to my eye but that may be because the grooves are quite wide on them. Definitely new tyres though and fairly sure they were legit (co-worker's husband owns a tyre place and michellin gave me the fuel money offer after sending them the reciept)...

I'm guessing its just some seriously out of whack alignment then (is it possible to tear 4k+ miles off a tyre with bad alignment?), I doubt it's had a 4 wheel alignment since it left the factory and probably not even had the front done either.

I'll give them an actual measurement all over when I get the car back tonight and see if Audi's measurements tally, then get the alignement done and see if that slows the wear at all, then buy some continentals all round for next time by the sounds of it!

Well the last week or two ive noticed the steering wheel isnt centered but other than that its probably one of those things that creeps up on you, I can't say it feels bad, the A4 courtesy car ive got atm feels a bit comfier (over bumps/catseyes etc) but that could well be to do with it being a brand new A4 and having softer suspension - coupled with the fact that its not my tyres so ive been impressed by the corner handling because I don't normally go round them as fast when i'm paying for the rubber...

Certainly no wobble, vibration or worries in the corners with mine currently.
