Okay, so the car's now been ordered and now begins the long wait.

Is there anything particular that would be useful to arrange ahead of time to hit the ground running so to speak?

There's the obvious stuff like arranging my insurance in plenty of time and selling the old car, but is there anything else?

I'm getting an SD card to fill up with music and album artwork but beyond that I'm guessing there's not much to do?

Iv been waiting for 5months...still counting -_- ...in that time i have become a frequent unnecessary online shopper,iv got a tattoo, have theoretical knowledge of the entire car and how I would drive it...lol

Pro active things like getting your insurance sorted out and stuff can be done in a snap.Does not really help pass time.
Although if there is something to be done i would also like to hear what others say.

Are you getting custom plates by any chance?I think thats something that can be started but probably quite close to the collection i would think

Standard plates will be fine (assuming they are the international GB ones).

5 months seems pretty excessive. How come the long wait?

My dealer (perhaps over-optimistically) told me 1st October and I only ordered on Friday.

Just a long wait I'm guessing then...

I waited 5 months and it was torture....especially coming on here everyday.

I just filled my time talking crap to everyone I knew for those 5 months. Bored a lot of people telling them about the next gen Haldex, the updated TFSI engine, LED headlights oh and it has 300 P.S and it's only a family hatchback.

Watched every S3 video on Youtube about 50 times - that passed some time.......guess it's better than watching some other videos you can find online :whistle2:

I've pretty much done all the above to make the wait more bearable, 7 month wait, 4 months down - 3 to go !

ASN is a great community full of people who help / advise and talk about Audi's to the death which I love !

6 months down, 3 more months to go.

Same as everyone else here who have been waiting, searching for every article/reviews on the S3, every images and video clips.

And now, it's entering the VIN into the tracking site every day, hoping that the car shows up on a ship rather then "No record found", after that, it will be constant stalking the ship online as it makes it's way from Bremerhaven to Port Kembla (I have an App for that)!

Ohh, what app is that then?

I read through the photos thread a lot :) every page haha! Numerous times. I had to wait 6 months for mine. Drags at first but speeds up mid ways through!

I haven't chosen an exclusive colour. Just a saloon means the 7 month wait!!
Questions....
Where does the VIN come from - the dealer?
What is the URL of the tracking site?
What is the tracking app?

VIN comes from the dealer or CS once the car has been built.
URL of the shipping site (which I assume is what you meant) is www.vesselfinder.com. iOS app available for £2.99

But there's no website to track production or status of your car -Audi keep promising but it has not appeared.

You'll spend the next few weeks and months changing your mind daily about the options you've chosen. And the more you read this Forum the more times you'll change your mind. But then the spec is locked and THEN you'll start regretting that you didn't include this or that option! But it passes the time ......

ah yes... good to know that I am not the only one reading and watching every article, video etc. hell I even watch some videos in a language I don't understand!!!

MarineTraffic, here is a screen capture:

Pretty much what I did lol! My wife got sick of it and banned me talking about the S3 hahaha

I totally did this.....^^^

Changed the spec 3 times - changed the colour twice and would have changed it again but the build was locked further out than a 'normal' build due to the colour I chose being exclusive. Still happy with my choices and it stopped me spending more and more and more money on spec items

I ordered in December and its FINALLY being collected this Friday :arco:

There is an easy fix for that problem, just tick every option to start with!

You would think so, but then you find yourself reading threads where people who have an option are complaining about it and saying it wasn't worth the money.... either way you can't win ;-)

I did and then my dealer asked if I really wanted an A3 with 16 wheels, in 13 colours, with 6 seats, 2 different sound systems, SE, Sport and S-Line suspension ...... I did see his point so de-selected a few!

Just spent a week in Devon, lovely place but how do you survive the seagulls and their over filled very loose bowels lol

Actually we get no seagulls where I live (12 miles inland) but just to be safe thats why I got a white car

Yes really !!

Ordered end of December / beginning January with a delivery date of Approx June
Changed the colour from Monsoon to Exclusive in March and was given a delivery date of Mid August due to long lead with exclusive orders.

Its been a struggle but the wait's nealry over :arco:

Makes sense, exclusive = massive delay.

What colour you gone for or you keeping it a secret like I am?

Was bad enough waiting 6 days for mine! Don't know if I could manage 4-5 months, luckily someone had cancelled their order for an S3 and it was 99% exactly how I would have specced it myself

In Post 2 i just spoke about my 5 month wait and today i just received confirmation that I will be picking up my A3 next week :D :D :D :D ...Finally!

Super stoked now

No big secret but I'm not shouting it from the roof tops - I hesitated posting some pics as I was going to wait until it was all clean and take some proper pics - but I'm impatient haha

I'm passing the time by putting deposits down on other cars. :uhm:

Strange strategy, what else you buying?

Have money down on a V60 Polestar. Very different car, but under consideration nonetheless. May also be moved to consider an SQ5...

I've been waiting on the S3 for over a year now, and it's another three months yet until I'll even be able to order for a February/ March delivery. At that point, I've waited just inside of two years for a ho-hum standard production car? Yeah.

It's all due to AoA repeatedly dicking the thing up, but that's no excuse. Now I'm left waiting on super sport seat production to go on-line during week two while Canada already has cars and the US isn't far behind.
