My MMI had a nap today. Turned the engine on and the screen failed to pop up. Tried the screen up/down button: nothing. All the touchpad buttons were dead. Drove off. 2 minutes later it popped up and all was well. Anyone else had this?

Secondly after a thousand miles I have one stone chip on the bumper area. What's the best method of repair?

Pebble dash the whole bumper? You
Won't see it then!
Try chipex for a quick fix that'll remove it's ghastly appearance.

+1 for Chipex....

It's perfect for chips like this that are where your eyes are not instantly drawn to if there is a blemish (like a door or wing). Would suggest when you do it to let the paint sit on there a few days before applying the blending solution. It's plenty deep to get a good result.

Pretty bad chip mind....must have been a big old stone.

I think I've had the MMI not pop up immediately once. It was only about 15 seconds though, and hadn't even realised until I saw it eventually pop up and thought it looked strange!

I'd say chipex, but gets. Small painters detail brush, the smallest you can find, and use that instead of the one given... Also quick question, hows your car been? I've order the exact same car as yourself, and wondered how it performs with the new 150ps? Hehe ;)

I love it Gaz. This thread highlights the only two issues so far (the chip being external). I'm getting 43mpg average (checking amount of fuel purchased v mileage). It's lovely and quiet -almost to the point I forget the engine is running.

I'm sure you'll love it.

I know that stone chips aren't supposedly covered by the paint warranty BUT if I'd bought a new car and it managed to get a chip like that after a thousand miles, I'd be straight to the dealers to get it fixed as that's unacceptable!

I'm STILL waiting to get the venture shield protection film to be fitted to my S3. My fitter is waiting for a new batch of film. Worth the investment to stop the chips.....

I will just add VAG paint is actually much much better in my experience than many other manufacturers. Ford, BMW, Honda and anything French being the worst culprits.

Not according to detailers it's not on the 8V!
