Right I currently have B5 S4 callipers and I know they're direct fitment as I have had them bolted on for test fit. I'm not going for breaking performance just wanting something g to fill my 20" wheels better than the standard 288mm stoppers. I have asked before but just never got around to fitting yet and now have a few more questions I know that 320 discs are what go with these calipers but I was thinking if I put the bigger caliper carriers on from the 312 set up could I go to 340 mm discs or do I need these anyway to fit 320mm discs. Please can someone give me a clue thanks.

Far as I know the B5 S4 had the same 312mm as various other models which is the simple wallet friendly route for upgrade as it's just a carrier swap (and disc etc). My car has 320mm 2.0T Special Edition brakes all 'round which can have the front carriers swapped to B6/B7 S4 340mm but the price increase for carriers and disks was jaw dropping so I just stuck with them as they came. In terms of filling the gap mine don't look crazily big on 19's so for 20's I'd say RS4 would be appropriate but with the hefty price tag I'd say just go 312 and think of them from a performance point of view rather than aesthetic, that's what I had to do anyway but either way they're more aesthetically pleasing than tiny ones.

S4 brakes 345mm will not fit without the s4 uprights. Also as Jake mentioned, the price difference between 320mm and 345mm discs is significant as well. I would stick to 320mm brakes as they are much more than you need- had them on my 300 Bhp a6 avant and they performed flawlesly- ok they were at the limits but stopped the car on a dime !

320 it is then to fit them with my b5 s4 calipers will I need the bigger carriers off the 312 set up though as my a4 only has 288 on. Thanks for the info guys I'd be stuck without this site lol.

I have 345mm S4's on my 2.5 TDI which had 312's. I didn't have to change the uprights.

Can anyone clear up the question whether I would need the carriers from the 312 set up to fit the b5 s4 calipers so I can fit 320 mm discs as I only have 288 mm on my 1.9tdi.

I'm not 100% on this but i think you will need to fit the 312mm carriers to fit 320mm discs. TBH if you want to fill the wheels better, i would get rid of the B5 S4 callipers and go for the far easier direct fit 345mm B6 S4 brakes. I've just fitted them on mine and even with the 345mm diameter they still don't look massive behind my 19's but they do look better than the original 288's.

Haha to answer that, I had to fit my old full size spare as I'd cracked an 18" alloy on a pothole.....345mm S4's fit under them, just. Having the cracked one professionally repaired.

No interference at all. Standard sport 17" x 7.5j ET43:

When using the B5 S4 calipers and carriers I take it you use the B5 320mm discs?
