Hi everyone,

Figured out that one of the holes in my vacuum solenoid block was the cause of a long term problem I had in my 1.9tdi a3!

Basically one of the holes was blocked with crap so it was causing too much pressure to the egr and keeping the valve lifted constantly. As soon as I got rid of the dirt the car was perfect again.

So when i get time I want to give it a good clean. Anyone know the best way to clean these?! It has a mesh over the holes and I don't know if the unit can be opened up or not?

Thanks would appreciate some help!

over 60 views and no one knows how to clean one of these.... -___-

Would you rather have 60 comments all saying no then? I'm sure that can be arranged... :)

Doubt that many people (if any) have ever tried to clean one, you would more than likely be better to buy a new one

If it were me I would probably clean with compressed air or something similar to brake cleaner and then hope for the best whilst at the same time prepare to look for a new/second hand one also just in case I break it whilst cleaning it.

Yeah I might try sticking a hoover over it and try some compressed air. Will give it a try this weekend and see if theres a way of opening it up. Brand new this part is near £200, ridiculous price. Not sure if theres any point in buying used one, seen some on ebay and they look like there in worse condition than mine!
