What a joy. Loss of coolant leading to investigation found that when squeezing the coolant hose... the seam join on the plastic housing on the right of the cylinder head (facing front of car) leaks. A temp sensor plugs in to this housing as well as a few water pipes. And is above the gearbox

Anyone had this before? looks like two allen bolts, standardly one looks impossible to reach

does anyone kindly have the S3 part number for this housing and seal to the block?

The oil breather hose from under the inlet to that disc type filter also disintegrated whilst looking about...

it never rains but pours right!

cheers
Dave

Main post edited... not the thermostat housing, its the plastic housing attached to the right side of the head, just above the gearbox

Yeah, it seems like all the important coolant fittings are made from bakelite/chocolate and usually fall apart at the worst possible moment.

Can't find the part number but hopefully someone can assist there...

I've had this happen to me.

Then when i replaced the housing it started leaking around the temp sensor and i had to fit a thicker O-ring to seal it.
