condensed version...So..When I bought my 2.0T I arranged £500 of the p/x value to change the waterpump and cambelt on the new car. Got the receipt for the work done after two months of persistent asking to find that they had replaced the old audi parts with motor factor parts that were not genuine audi so did not hold the 2yr warranty. They spent £371. Owing me £129.

Wrote to the dealer asking for the difference back as it was essentially mine. They never replied.
So I put the complaint to the ombudsman and let them deal with it.
They then ahnded it to Black Horse Finance as they are my finance provider for the car.

They spoke to the dealer who stated they "used the £129 on other parts"
Credit to Blackhorse who stated, you have not documented any other parts on the receipt and what parts other than a cambelt kit and waterpump would you actually need.... to which they conceded.

Phonecall from Blackhorse stating they are going to give me the £129, an inconvenience good will gesture, returned phonecall and fuel fees for calling or driving to the dealer and then 8% of the final sum on top of that.

The only gutting part that they could not honour is the replacing of audi parts for the general parts they did use, as ive had the car over 6 months now so the stat time limit has passed. Had it have been within 6 months they were actually going to have the parts swapped to audi parts and pay for it too, which would have been awesome. but nvm cant be too ungrateful eh.

I think that's pretty damn good customer service from black Horse considering they only finance the car! :o.k:

So that little sum shall go toward getting the timing chain and tensioner replaced. Win

That's good news, Av4nt. One observation; you say Black Horse only financed the car. Depending on the type of finance arrangement you have, it's possible that Black Horse actually owns the car until such time as the finance has been settled. Even if that's not the case, and your legal ownership of the car is not conditional on the finance being settled, Black Horse still has a liability to you for the acts or omissions of the supplying dealer under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Nice to see a finance company remembering where its obligations are, and looking after its customer.

Boom.. you nailed that one down then you are right good point. As I remember asking if I can modify the car whilst Black Horse are the actual owner until its paid which they were happy with so long as I make sure the car is serviced properly which is no issue at all!

Thats above and beyond by Black Horse :icon_thumright:

Wow, good result for a change.

Black horse will be technically the owners unless the finance is a personal loan rather than HP or PCP.

Did you have it on an order form to use genuine parts rather than spurious ones?

I have had it before where customers have presumed that a certain type of tyre or part is going to be used on preparation of a used vehicle but as a dealership they will use the cheapest they can as it cuts prep costs and there is no obligation to use genuine parts as long as the vehicle is safe and fit for purpose.

Its one of those things that needs to be asked by anyone wanting something changed or done on a used car and documented on an order form to avoid difficult conversations later on..

But anyway I digress...If it wasnt documented that genuine was to be used then you have done really well..Nice one.
