Hi guys ;)

Before I start digging, does anyone know if there's a constant live somewhere in the boot I can tap in to?

I'm thinking there could be one behind those little side panels or maybe the rear light cluster?

I can't remember seeing one in the s3 but my mk4 golf had a cig lighter socket in the boot on the right hand side but as I say I can't remember seeing one in the 8l

My s3 has a 12v cig lighter in the boot on the cd changer side, but not sure about a3's

Thanks for the replies ;)

But I'm not looking for a 12v cig lighter, I'm looking for any 12v wire I can splice into?

The cig lighter will have a wire to splice into surely

My a3 doesn't have a CIG lighter in the boot.

I want to find a 12v supply in the boot to save me running a wire from the front of the car (I would use the fusebox if I was going to do that ;) ).

A 12v supply is a 12v supply so you can splice into it.... Don't have any CIG lighter in mine though

I could if I had one...lol

how much power do you need?

Trying to power an LED gives you many options, trying to power something like a pump or fridge, less so.

Central Locking pump has a permenant live supply for instance.

I think its about 12v 30mA so not much.

I didn't think about the pump.

I know the pump is a bit of a pita to get at but is there easy access to the wire?

No there isn't one, i have fitted a 12v socket in the boot of my car and had to run a wire from the fuse box, not hard at all just popped it under the plastic door sill trim.

Is there a light in the boot? Not had my audi long but my corrado has a light in the boot and thats from 1995

Could be wrong but doesn't the light switch on the positive hence it's only permanent when the light is on?

Why do people still keep talking about a 12v socket...lol

I just need a constant live wire that's in the boot area.

Yes there's two boot lights but the switch for them is in the lock, but maybe I could splice into the wire before in goes into the boot lid.

Sorry to jump in bit does all S3's have a cig ligter on the boot or was it an optional extra or maybe a facelift change??

My 2000 APY had one if that's any help.. Might of been an extra.

You sure could just chase the wire back and see where it enters the bootlid and splice it there

I remember a while back that there were a lot of people fitting sockets in the boot. i even bought one from halfords to do it myself but never got round to doing it.

That picture above looks like one that someone has fitted.

As soon a i get a chance ill have a look around for a live in the boot and if to then ill just need to run one from the front.

I just didn't want to spend ages looking for a wire that's not there or go running a wire from the front if someone knew exactly where there was one....lol
