Been searching around for prices for and can't find a thing. I'm looking at just cat back, resonated (maybe - really need to hear how loud it is). Every tuners website I go to has a blank page when you go to their page for the S3 8V, it's only been around for a year now ...

On the exhaust thing, I heard a S3 zip past me the other day and the noise was disappointing, almost whine like.
However from inside the car sounds okay - just shows how the piped in/artificial sound creates an illusion.

There are videos on YouTube of the Milltek fitted to the S3.

For me, I think the sound is terrible, very tinny going by the vids. When you listen to other offerings, Supersprint and Remus I think it is, they sound much meatier.

Milltek have also lost the plot with their pricing strategy on the S3, I think they got S3 mixed up with R8, £2.6k before fitting and something daft like £1600 just for a catback option.

There is a chap selling his Milltek on here, I did think about it for 5 mins but just can't get past the sound.

Go to GNJ Motorsport website they have all the prices for milltek along with other parts for the 8V

Yep, unless you're proper ragging it, it's a bit quiet. Hence the need to sort that out! Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated. Mark.

Had millteks on all my audis and they've been excellent. They seem to get it just right when it comes to the sound as well. I wouldn't want a full system though, just cat back is enough for me. I don't take too much notice of those You Tube clips, useful as they are. The one clip I did find it sounded good to me. I do appreciate the feedback, thank you, Mark.

I nearly fell off my seat when I saw the prices!!! I was expecting £500 to £600 tops, not £1500 + for just a rear/centre silencer plus four exhaust tips!!! Well, you can stuff that. I'd be surprised if they sell any at that price. Will have to look for something else.

Have you tried to contact Scorpion? I don't know if they have any development or product but they were 100% when I bought a Cat Back for my TTS... £££££ Notes accepted ;)

Just had my a3 1.8tfsi at powerflow for a back box delete. Nice and subtle at low rpm but give a good sound if I put my foot down. Can't argue for £130

You could get a full titanium system from scorpion for the price of the miltek (£2.6k). I think scorpions cat back is around £750 ish with various tips styles available.

I just got my Scorpion Cat back fitted on monday, safe to say i'm loving it! Paid £710 including fitting.

Geefunk, if this chap buys your catback, I may be interested in the downpipe if you decide to split the system. (Would need to check on fitment options of Milltek downpipe to standard catback first)

I paid 500 for my TTS cat back (cash) not sure if how or when they have a full S3 but I had a tour of the workshop and as an ex engineer the setup was excellent and the welding was perfect...... Better than the Milteck I was shown in the Milteck dealer here in Dublin!

I've had Milltek exhausts on my previous two cars and they were good - for the money (important point).

I get the impression Milltek are trying to artificially raise the perception of their brand by increasing the price. In reality, they operate at the price sensitive end of the market and they will alienate their loyal customer base if not careful...

Go for something like what?

That is a video of a standard S3 driving about with a guy and a microphone in the passenger seat.

VERY (very!) surprised at the milltek prices for the 8v S3. Had a milltek on my TTS, that was £600 at the time (2.5 years ago). Will anyone buy them at the silly prices they're asking? they don't compare at all with other systems for other audis. I think they've dropped a ******* on this one as I for one will not be buying one, despite the fact I'd like one! Thanks for the replies and i'll take a look at some of the other systems being recommended. Cheers fellas. Mark.

They will be blaming the price hike on the fact they have to fit valves into the systems now.
I also think they are well over priced, I to have had several Milltek systems over the years but I'm not paying that!!!

It's not that the price of the exhaust system is overly expensive, it's that its too expensive for something produced by Milltek.

I don't really see the fuss over pricing, I paid and I'm very happy with what I paid for. Improves the sound no end over the factory system for me

Can't believe people are moaning at the price of the Milltek when they've paid £35k+ for a car! This S3 is a completely different ball game to the last one with the exhaust valves and ecu integration. You're paying for a lot more technology.

Yeh but they have basically doubled the price of previous systems!! That's the problem!! It's a big hike in price for a couple of valves!!

Some people really aren't getting the point with the complaints about pricing!

It's not that it's expensive, it's that it's overly expensive for Milltek. This is a brand which sits squarely at the cheap end of the market.

I personally think £2.6k + fitting for a SS exhaust on a £30k car is taking the ****. That's pretty much 10% of the cost of the vehicle. For comparison the Milltek TBE exhaust on my TTRS with valve was under £1700.

If they want to sell any to S3 owners, the whole system needs to come in at under £1.5k. £2.6k, I would be very surprised. I hope someone from Milltek reads this thread.

Maybe it's the fact that Milltek sold a bundle of systems for the Nissan GTR over the last few years and think they can get away with the higher pricing all round now. Seems odd to expect that strategy to stick though. Lots more price competition in the £30-40k s3 market than in the 70k+ GTR market. I had one on my GTR and they are nothing special.

Might be worth speaking to Russ Fellows: Russ Fellows Fabrications - Motorsport & Road Bespoke Exhaust System & Manifold Fabrication

He's into special fabrication work and might be willing to do a reasonable deal if there's volume interest. He's done some really nice sounding systems for GTRs by all accounts.

That down at Stafford?

My local dealer is newcastle, they have dealers all over the country. Just Google powerflow, they have a dealer locator. Make sure to look into the dealer you might use as some have better reviews than others

Yer my friend has used powerflow a lot for a lot of custom work and has been very impressed.

I was wary at first with some of the reviews of powerflow in general but there wasn't really any other choice for the 1.8 engine. Very impressed with the work and only took an hour or so for just the back box. They had a lovely slk200 in for a full exhaust with valves while I was there. Sounded lovely

can I just ask how come you are doing this to the car straight away. Does this not void the warranty?

I've always been cautious with things like miltek / remapping

Only the warranty that it relates too.

Changing your exhaust isn't going to void your satnav warranty for example

Cheers for claifying that.

What are peoples view on the S3 standard exhausts? I was thinking they were not to bad myself?

I would think that if you changed the exhaust you would invalidate the Engine Warranty... I could be wrong. I put a Scorpion on My TTS which was out of Warranty, it also needed a new back box and the Scorpion was a good option and was made from superior materials. I wouldn't be bothered putting one on mt S3 as it's only 6 months old....
One thing I will say, the Scorpion was a whole lot easier to keep clean compared to the stock OEM exhaust.

When I asked the dealer about my exhaust, his response was, yes you'll lose the warranty on the exhaust but he'd spoken to one of the service guys, who In 10 years of working for Audi, he had never needed to replace an exhaust on warranty. Its a risk you take
