Hi all,

After a huge amount of saving and a few timewasters I've managed to get my A5.

It's a 2007 3.0 Tdi Quattro Sport, 104k on the clock but you wouldn't know it from looking at it. It runs like a dream and has already had the dreaded inlet manifolds done by Audi.

It's got loads of extras, eventually the only ones I'd like to add are bluetooth and the SD card reader. Does anyone know if this is difficult/too expensive to be worth it? I've got MMI, with satnav and phone prep by the looks of it, but I'd be grateful if someone could advise.

Thanks :)

Hi Nathan, that is one fantastic looking car. You could maybe drop a pm to NHN about getting a price for retrofitting the items you would like as he supplies, fits and will travel. Enjoy the car and thanks for sharing the pics with us. :) x

Lovely beast there and even though they are no OEM I like the take on roters you have.

Stay classy.

Looks lovely, can't beat the A5/S5 in black... Enjoy it! And I love that 3L TDI, I test drove a white one which would for sure have been my back up if I didn't go with my S5 :p have fun bud!

They'll just keep going and going... Would be interesting to find out whose has the most miles on it, to really see just how long those fantastic engines will last!

Yea, I was assured they were genuine but had my doubts. I was originally looking to change them, but they're in flawless condition and I like the fact no-one else seems to have them.

In terms of driving it, it's incredible. I had the 2.0tdi 8P A3 before this which was quick enough, and before that I had a 350bhp R33 Skyline. I don't think this is as quick as the Skyline but because the delivery is so much smoother and quieter it's a completely different feeling. The Quattro system is always a good laugh from the lights, and holds to corners beyond anything I've known previously.

lovely car nathan!
welcome to the club! :beerchug:
curious about stone chips on your bonnet mate?, mine has a few and was wondering how yours has faired up?
these are quite slab fronted machines, and do take a lot of stone abuse!

re. the wheels also!
they look genuine to me!, not rotor wannabe's, but a different wheel made for the A4 B8 dynamik!
have a look behind the spokes for the audi stamp!, i think you will find they have!

Thanks for the kind words!

And Chez that's made my day! I love the wheels but the added bonus with them being genuine satisfies the tiny voice in my head!

Stone chips are surprisingly few, seemed worse on the A3 (which was also black but only had 89k). No obvious signs of a respray but not complaining either way.

Have managed to sort bluetooth out, but it's limited due to me having Android and not having Apple goods. Not too fussed about it though.

Fitted the transmission mount from Cuppa's group buy on A5oc which I was really impressed with, trying not to get the modding bug too soon as I want to engine the car as is for a while. (Plus the girlfriend is feeling a bit left out!)

Check the current Audi accessories brochure ... Page 8 - they're there.

I'm a bit confused. If you have MMI and phone connect then you can you can speak on the phone etc. via bluetooth so you kind of have it. I have the SD reader too and this adds Audi Connect - it's essentially a web-link to useful features like, fuel (cheapest fuel in area search), weather, whats on etc. It also allows me to create a mobile wifi network for passengers to connect to and I think it supplies the live traffic update and Google Earth view on the sat nav too. I can also link data that I can store on my myaudi.com site (like addresses of destinations).

All these are good gadgets I guess though I be mindful that I have two sim cards - one in the car and one in my mobile phone though I think that if you use an Android phone some of the features that I describe can be linked using a single sim.

If you have interior lights in your footwell I'd recommend that you add the hidden ambient light feature. See the bottom of this thread: Enabling Ambient Lighting in SQ5

I can connect using the bluetooth but I can only access missed calls and received calls. It won't load my contact list or any of the other feature. I know this can take a while sometimes but I've been in the car for two hours before now and nothing's changed. Would love the SD card reader as there's less fiddling about with cds!

Try deleting your bluetooth connection between your car and phone and then re-establishing it. Something is clearly wrong with the bluetooth link.

Fiddling about...? I can't relate to this. Even if my phone is in the wife's bag it connects okay and plays music etc from it. In my mind it would be a ball-ache to remove the sim from your phone and insert it into the dash each time you drive.

I mean more for the SD cards. As mine is 2007 I think I've only got 2G so I don't think I can retrofit the sim reader without a huge amount of work.

The two big things I'm after are being able to use the full menu with my phone and either SD cards or HDD for music so it's much easier to update music.

You're got a hard drive in the boot? If so why not use the connector in the glove box to link an ipod or USB stick? Audi do two types of connector to suit either Apple or Android devices. This would save having to fit the SD card reader.

Btw add me to the list of admirers of your wheels.

It's DVD satnav, no connectors in the glovebox. Will have to be retrofitted.
