hi just wondered if anyone on here has broke any s3 8l, if so could you please tell me what you think my s3 is worth in parts as in thinking of breaking it. its a 2002 ming blue s3 8l with 118000 miles on the clock, stage one amd map 255 bhp with printout, bam engine had a replacement head fully checked, pressure tested and skimmed, new top gasket kit, head gasket, head bolts, cambelt kit including damper and all tensioners, waterpump and full service 1000 miles ago, 3 inch creation motorsports tip with billet adapter, decat pipe, cat back powerflow custom exhaust. car is pretty mint but sat there with no mot. any help would be appreciated, just after what people think its worth in bits.

Why not just get it mot d and sell it? How long would it take to sell the parts inc post time to strip and store and you would still be left with the shell to get rid
Mark

Whats wrong with it to stop you getting it mot'd?

im no longer insured on it its sorned, drop link, abs sensor and needs a cat as has decat fitted, that with time wasters and people wanting it for pennies, also its been re registered as a 1.8 se?? why I don't know someone obviously wanted cheaper insurance and I don't know how to re register it as an s3 I have printout from audi stating its an s3 Quattro with a list of what it came new with? just seems easier to break it.

cheers tuffty but that dosen't tell me what its worth in parts mate . I just wondered if anyone on here's broke there's and can give ma a rough figure.

Seems a shame to break it ...it looks pretty mint.... drop links and abs arn't exspensive and a cat you could pick up of ebay... I actually have one off a BAM S3 sat in the garage...as far as it being registered as an SE just send off your old reg document along with an explanation and the print out from Audi and I'm sure it would just cost the price of a replacement document , MOT and then sell it ....it would be a hell of a lot more hassle breaking it

It's probably worth about the same in parts as selling it complete, but it's a right ball ache breaking cars and dealing with all the postage etc. Can also take a fair amount of time to shift all the parts.

what would you want for the cat? I have 2 hubs and sensors here too lol, I enjoy breaking car believe it or not lol. but I did all engine work myself on this and it would be a shame as it is pretty mint like I say its just sat there doing nothing and ive found parts sell easier than cars in the past.

I normally close these threads...

The thread I posted is still valid... look in the classifieds and on ebay... you will get an idea on price of parts there... there are a few people that have broken thier cars and as they have done that they may not be on here anymore (due to not having an 8L) and so answers may not flood in...

You need to make a list of the parts you deem high value and look on ebay... that will give you an idea of where to aim... then make a list of all the other stuff like suspension parts, interior parts etc... all the things you can be bothered to remove from the car... same again, look on ebay to gauge value... once that done you should have an idea of value from breaking... to truely make money you have to be prepared to removed almost anything of value... this could be trim parts, carpets etc all the stuff thats less mainstream..

If you decide to break your car you can post up in classifieds with a list of all the main/obvious parts and prices you want... you will find that people will ask for random stuff too so be prepared for that and again look on ebay...

The minute anyone asks for prices on parts or if it shows any signs of turning into a for sale thread it will be closed

<tuffty/>

cheers tuffty it will not turn into a for sale thread as if I decide to break it I will put it in advertisement section. if it does look as though its a for sale thread then please feel free to close it. I was hoping someone on here would have maybe broken one but still be on here.

I've broke a few, they are worth more in parts - simple, but as mentioned, you do need to get rid of the shell, and some parts will sell fast, others will take ages, i break cars all the time and have a large unit to do it so storage isn't an issue for me.

ive got the skills, not in a rush to sell parts, and have a large garage to store parts the shell I can get rid of easily what do you think it would break for mate?

I think unless you can store it. Have plenty of time to monitor the ad. Remove the parts etc then you may aswell sell as is or mot and sell.
You will sell the popular bits quickly then it will die a death and you may wish you hadnt bothered.
Like others have said. Looks nice car!!

Seems like a crime to break it, given the apparent condition of the car. Either price it to sell with no MOT or get it through the MOT and registered properly and sell it.
