I have been offered a discount of 10.7% on the total price of a new S3 Sportback, has anyone obtained a larger discount than this?

Also I would be grateful for anyone financing under a PCP to let me know what your guaranteed future value is, how many years the PCP is over and your estimated millage per annum.

Thank you

I got a little over 3.5k. I guess it depends if you're counting hte discount on the bare metal, or on the total package including options.

Managed 5% off S3 but I managed to negotiate a excellent trade in price for my old car which sweetened the dealer further.

36 payments, £19k GFV, 6k miles P.A

Managed 9.7% off total cost including options on a S3 saloon. GFV of £16k after 4 years 10k per annum. Also got a trade in £3k above the GFV on my TT, and only £1k less than a comparable one sitting on the forecourt.
I was happy with that deal.

The GFV seems to vary quite a bit here, are the GFVs discretionary with Audi dealers e.g. if they give you a big discount then they'll get it back with a low GFV come p/x time?

I just got quoted for a Sportback S3, 10k miles per year with limited options (Sepang, Comfort pack with park assist) and they had GFV down at 55%, but alluded to the GFV being cautiously low and i'd probably have £3k "equity" at trade-in.

GFVs are not discretionary and are set by Audi finance based on the following criteria:

Base model
Term of PCP
Yearly millage

Unlike other car manufactures options make no difference to the GFV.

GFV for an S3 S Tronic after 3 years and 8,000 miles per year is 18,700.

Which dealership did you manage to negotiate that with!?

£18k after three years @8k miles per anum. S3 Sportback manual that was what came up on Sunday for me.

The dealers have up to a 5% plus / minus on the GFV that they can adjust on the VW finance application portal.

Sat with the sales manager and saw him adjust it on his laptop to make my deal work. GFV was increased from £18.5k to £19.2k to bring my payments in to my budget.

Got around 9.1% but they added supagard so I would say 8%. I have dealt with the dealer for erm...over 8 years wow :)tapedshut:) so the 2% loss compared to DTD wasn't a big issue as they recognise me as a human being.

As said my GFV was automated they didn't play with it.

Also remember if you intend to buy the car outright instead of finance you can save the interest by buying the car in the first 14 days and cancelling the finance, saves around £4500 over a 3 year PCP.

Is the OP quoting that 10.5% before or after VAT ?

That makes a difference.

^ Feel free to have the argument with PilotAudi. His son is a mathematician, apparently.

I think the point is that discount should be pre-VAT and not including OTR costs, including delivery, registration fee, VED etc. (rather than just VAT as I stated above).

So someone could be quoting 10% post VAT and all other charges, while someone else (correctly) is quoting pre-VAT and all other charges.

Legally you cannot discount VAT so ALL discounts have to be pre-VAT.

Those VAT off offers and we pay the VAT offers are just sales and marketing speak instead of saying 20% off.

And getting the VAT off makes people more excited lol.

I thought I saw the dealer doing something similar when they were getting me some figures - seemed that they had some discretion available to them e.g. if they expect a 3 year old S3 to give £20k part ex value, they can give you £17k official GFV and £3k "out of their own pocket" to make it seem like you are getting a crazy deal. Someone else might just get offered their GFV of £19k. The Sportback manual with around £1400 of options was coming in at £17600 and 10k miles PA. Not sure whether there's much variance in true GFV for shape variant. The saloon looks best to me, but for most cars the saloon is the least practical option and used prices reflect this. On my current car (Golf GTD), although the 5 door costs £650 more than the 3 door, the GFV is around £700 higher on the 5 door, effectively making it a "free" option when you trade in.

Some of the variability in quoted GFV on this thread can't all be attributed to mileage allowance differences.

Exactly, the OTR costs being fixed and non discountable. You had said the difference was before and after VAT.

e.g.
£25,000 + VAT = £30,000.... 9% discount = £27,300
£25,000... 9% discount = £22,750 + VAT = £27,300

^ Indeed. And I corrected it in the next post saying that discount should be quoted pre-VAT and OTR costs !

But you don't know that every one is on the same page and not quoting % discount including non-discountable OTR costs.

So I'm now looking at ordering an S3 for March '15 delivery. Orangewheels have quoted a near 4.5k discount from £38k OTR. Basically covers all my options.

Did anyone take a brokers offer into Audi and get any match in terms of discount or offers?

I got a price from Coventry Audi through an online broker which was £40,040 retail, offered at £35,656. My local dealer matched it after telling me that 7% was the best they could do. This was last week.

Try Carwow. I could have got 10.5% with Coventry Audi but settled for 9.5% at a local dealer to make life easier.

I think its o a Dealership to Dealership basis.

Some people have had some joy some haven't

I fall into the haven't group

I've bought my last 3 new Audi's from my local Audi Dealer. Always get my servicing done there and know quite a lot of the staff including some of the Management

When I got my best internet price, went in and saw the same Salesperson that sold me my current Audi

To quote him - 'We have been told by Senior management that we will not match or compete with internet prices'

Result? - They lost a Sale because of greed IMO & I bought my car from another Audi Main Dealer

BTW, Carwow were cheaper for me than all the other brokers ou there, incl. orangewheels

Wonder if its because I ordered a S3 saloon and not a HB or SB

Possibly, I originally got a quote for a S3 Saloon to replace my 1.8 Saloon, Carwow varied from £5k off to £1.5k off OTR price. Since then I have found that my newborn's pram doesn't fit in a Saloon but does in a SB. Orangewheels already quoted over £4k off, waiting on some more car wow offers but the one I had first was only £1.7k off.

I ordered a saloon too but Carfile was cheaper for me than Carwow by £500, strange huh?

I ordered mine quite impulsively after being told the waiting list for a new S3 was 6 months, but the dealer happened to have a demo due in that they could spec amend and have in less than 2 months, so I bit. The car is due for delivery in about a week after ordering it at the end of August. I only received a discount of £1000 plus accident repair cover thrown in. After looking on the net and finding out that if I ordered a new one now from Coventry Audi I could have it in 3 months, with a discount of £4,500, I'm more than disgruntled.

I havent signed any paperwork, all I've done is paid a £1000 deposit. Where do I stand legally if I decided to cancel the order?

I got 7% but with just a 2 week lead time that was fine, I probably saved on the 4-6 months depreciation on my part exchange if it had been built to order & my cost to change was bang on where I said I wanted to be at the start.

Also being sat with the dealer helps, they then know you're serious & not just looking for a quote to go get a price match.

I assume that Coventry Audi have build slots allocated at 3 months and you have in effect made a spec change (possibly?)

OEM lead time reports for quarter 3 quoted A3 sportback as 24 weeks.

So carwow offering £4.2k off OTR. Basically getting options for free, can't really argue with that!

I should have noted that my initial order is with Cheshire Oaks Audi.

Yep you could look at it like that. I chose to look at it that I got interest free finance ;)

Got just over £2.5k off a £39k build. However, got a great trade in price plus Guardx and a service plan. Delighted with Audi Macclesfield.

Ive been mugged off royally by the guy who sold me the car at Cheshire Oaks Audi. At first I was quite comfortable with the price i'd paid, seeing as it was a local dealer and didn't have to travel far to collect etc. However, as time progressed after ordering, I discovered more and more people were getting 10% off, not the measly 2.5% I was offered.

I challenged him in an e-mail about this, asking to hear his thoughts on these discounts, the tone of the reply was essentially "tough sh*t, if you want to cancel here is the e-mail address".

I want the car, and I think I will pay for it, but I can tell you one thing, I will be taking it to North Wales Audi in Llandudno for the servicing and for my replacement.

Not happy this morning. In fact, here is his reply:

"As you are probably aware a substantial discount was provided to you at the point of sale for your new S3. Unfortunately due to availability and the high demand for the S3 we can not match this deal. I am aware that this particular dealer are working on volume and I imagine that there will be a lengthy wait as Audi dealerships only have so many build allocations for S/RS models.
If you wish to cancel your order please could you do so in writing to- *********@cheshireoaksaudi.co.uk"

Substantial discount? £1000 and accident repair cover? Coventry Audi offered me my exact same car for £3500 less than Cheshire Oaks and saying if I ordered now it would be January delivery, not the 6 months I was told by Cheshire Oaks.

I take it you have paid a deposit? May still be worth cancelling/loosing the deposit and ordering from Coventry?

Funnily enough, I don't go to my closest dealer either. Had one bad experience with Eastbourne Audi (who said no discount at all was available on any A3/S3) and ended up at Maidstone, whom I've dealt with for 3 cars in the last 18 months and I have no hangups at all on driving the extra miles for a bit of common courtesy.

Yeah, a grand. I know what you mean but I need the car ASAP!

I know what I would do & it wouldn't involve purchasing from Cheshire Oaks
