i have always had a whine from the fuel pump since i picked up my car last August, i changed the fuel filter that seemed to sort if for a short while, then after it would come and go, when under load its worse as in aircon, rear demister etc on, once they were off it would stop whining, however now its constant even at idle, is the fuel pump on its last legs? oh and its a 1.8t 163bhp bfb engine

Could be a partially blocked strainer

is that something that can be cleaned easily, ive looked up a replacement pump and it seems to be one complete unit

Pull the pump and lifter out etc and clean of the gauze mate

cheers ill give that a go and report back, hope will save me as them pumps aint cheap

went to fit my new pump today only to find out its wrong one, mine has two fuel lines one being a return i take it, however one supplied and all guide i have seen online only have one fuel line, any one got a correct part number
