as harsh as it sounds it's good they only took the bumpers, at least whoever owns the car has a chance of getting it back and relatively speaking 2x bumpers could have been much worse.

i've seen cars where everything has been stripped leaving just the chassis.

That doesn't add up, thieves would never leave the other more expensive parts

Your guess is as good as mine Nige. I can tell you that it's parked in a clampable zone, so doubt the owner has taken the bumpers off for a respray. Lol

Right, just to update that the car has NOT been reported stolen yet, and I actually have a home address for the car, which is approx 2 miles away, so I may drive by on the way to work.

Bumpers stolen to order?

As said, very strange that all the expensive parts are still on it and it's not been reported as stolen.

I'm pretty sure you have to pop the rear lights to get the rear bumper off.... Seems a lot of work to make a few hundred quid .....and to leave the grill that's a royal pain to get off

Can only assume they've stolen the car. got the bumpers off... left the car for a few days to see if it gets picked up (tracker etc) then maybe went back to collect it to fully strip it once they knew it was safe to do so. Leaving it in a clamp zone might be an excuse for them to "tow it away" afterwards aswell.

Drove past a silver 60 plate black edition the other day in Denholme (Bradford), front end completely stripped through the night, no smashed windows or anything, the crime scene investigation were there at the time.

Really strange as I drove past a 335d BMW yesterday and the number plate on that was M333 HDR, exactly the same plate style and font too, so wander if they are related or even the same owner, had to look twice as I thought it was actually the plate of the S3 in this pic.

This was in Birmingham too, not too far from Hall Green either.
