Hi All,

Im new on here and just been looking around for a solution to an issue with my Bang & Olufsen system. I have a 58 plate A4 s line and one of the main reasons i chose this particular car was for the spec and the Bang & Olufsen system fitted. It really is the business but last week on my way to work 2 mins into the journey the sound went off for around 10 seconds, thought it was a bit odd but as it came back on i wasnt too worried. Anyway this happened again another 4 times in 15 mins then as i arrived at work it went off and has never come back on! that was a week ago now.
All the system works apart from the sound. Radio, external media, phone all show up on the display but no sound coming from the speakers

I have phoned my local audi dealer and have booked it in for diagnosis next week but i just thought i would see if anyone on here had a solution, maybe its something easy?
I personally am thinking the amp is dead but if thats right then thats abit crap from such a top end make like Bang & Olufsen.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the amp has failed and needs replacing, do you have a saloon or Avant, as it's known on older Avant models that the pipe leaks due to the freezing weather and then the water from the pipe leaks onto the AMP. I would find the amp and check it over. You could also try and re-seat the connectors going into the amp.

I would also look for the part number on the AMP and have a search on ebay, as Audi will want a good few hundred pounds for a new one, also where are you based as someone with vcds will be able to do diagnostics, and a lot cheaper than an Audi dealer

sorry dont know what all that color=blue!important crap was in my first post lol! Anyway i have the saloon and i called my local dealer and they said that a replacement amp was £176 plus and hours labor charge of £80. I didn't think that was too bad too be fair. I live near York.
cheers

hi
just thought i would update you with whats been happening. Its all back up and running now! it was the amp and the garage where i bought it from footed the bill! brand new amp from audi was £1000!!! turns out that water had been getting in through the rear lights and pouring all over the amp hence why it stopped working.
You cant change these yourself as the have to be coded in by audi.
Just glad i have the sound system back and didnt cost me a penny.
thanks

Did they replace the seals on the lights as it could happen again? I believe they were dodgy on the early A4 B8's. There was a "workshop action" for these seals, but I don't think there was any pressure on the dealers to do anything about it :(

yeah they did replace the seals and the light too! just sods law it knacked my amp! all good now though.

I thought I would check my boot for water leaks and after removing some plastic plugs in the boot lid quite a lot of water peed out. I definitely need to get those seals done on mine as it could have easily taken out my B&O amp as well. Thanks for the heads up.

When I had my B6 Avant with Bose fitted, the rear washer pipe had split and water used to find its way to the top of the Bose Amp located in the rear quarter......

When I pick up my new (to me) 2010 A4 Avant with B&O in it, one of my 1st jobs will be to make sure there is no water ingress in the area, and protect the amp somehow.....

Think that's how my amps knackered . Blackburn audi said they get water damaged ' , my cars 5 yrs old so out of warranty , they did say if it had part audi service history they would fix as a good will gesture , would it be worth emailing a complaint to audi uk ???
