Meyle HD control arm kit

Mine arrived today, on a Sunday too, which is excellent delivery service from Amazon! Look forward to getting these fitted. Thanks once again Rizzini for your bargain hunt and ASN share!

From the documentation I have seen meyle HD come with a 4 year warranty.

Shame I missed those, would have been awesome, not sure how I missed the thread, doh!

Best other price I've found is £361 on a UK site.

Well done the lucky people that got them :)

For those that did buy them, can you confirm the company you had them from please as I emailed the express car parts company listing them on Amazon to ask about the price increase and they say they were never sold at £129.

Thanks

Try it on UK camel camel camel to give you an idea of what it has been for sale for previously.

I've been wanting to get a whole new suspension kit for my '06 a4 avant.
Ever since I got the car EVERY part I have ever had to replace has been bought from an Audi dealership, (fitted by good friend) mainly for piece of mind but also as in my mind i think audi parts 'must be superior'? maybe I'm wrong?
Anyway my question is, as you can imagine the price of the genuine full suspension kit from audi has finally broke my run of genuine parts however now i've decided to try a different brand which one should I choose? I'm willing to pay good money but just not Audi prices but I want audi quality?? Are Meyle the next best thing? If so I'm more than happy to buy this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Meyle-Contr...bs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1M60HYH1WT02PGBZRECG
Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Luke

I believe Lemforder to be the original equipment manufacturer, which audi buy the parts from and ready them. So that would be a good brand to start with.

Genuine parts are usually a better for and tend to last longer. You also get the warranty with them, which tends to be easier to follow up at main dealers.

Sorry for being such a 'thicko' but I'm assuming parts like these audi don't actually make them themselves? For instance the suspension on my car at the moment (from the factory) could possibly be Lemforder ?? It's comments like posts #25, #27 & #28 that worry me, hence the fact i've always bought parts from audi

Cheers

Hey Luke,

I dont think we have meet but im sure you have seen me posting quite a lot. So to help you with your query you are 100% correct in saying that Audi dont make the parts themselves, they outsource the products but have a very specific blueprint that the manufacture has to abide too hence why the "Audi" can supply a warranty with there products as it is being built to specific standard or should I say there standard.

To get straight to the point if you read my previous post you will know that Lemforder is the OE supplier of suspension arms and other parts for Audi. Which I also did mention that when purchasing Lemforder parts from the likes of Euro car parts. The Audi/VW logo has been shaved off. As they cant really sell it with the Audi logo even thou its the same part as it a conflict of trade and seller laws.

My advice to you as much as you would love to support Audis massive over priced stuff. In the long run its not really doing you much favours. Why do I say this well, take something in the likes of say a Mass air flow sensor, again Audi dont make this part its compiled by bosch so does that mean buying the bosch part would be of less quality than the Audi product absolutely not. The only difference is the "missing" Audi logo oh and the lighter wallet.

And if its a warranty perspective you swear buy well bosch, lemforder etc all have there own warranties. Which if anything is basically the same as Audi as the rule of thumb is as long as the parts are fitted by a authorised agent/indy the warranty is valid. If fitted by yourself a warranty claim might be possible but definitely not in your favour if there was a defect etc.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Yeah brilliant,
Thanks, so lemforder it will be then! been looking for a complete lemforder suspension kit but only seem to be able to find separate individual arms etc

Thanks for your reply though

Luke

No problem. You are going to struggle to find Lemforder in a kit form. Meyle, Audi, Febi are mostly supplied in a kit.

As handy as a kit would be personally for me I rather replace the arms/parts than need doing. Saves you in the long run.

That's an absolute bargain!

Can't go wrong for that money.

How would you say that meyle compare to lemforder, by the sound of previous posts I'd rather buy lemforder but would rather not pay their prices! So how would you say that these compare to genuine parts? I do try to keep the car as original as poss but on this occasion and how old the car is getting I think I need to succumb to the cheaper option ?

They may not be as long lasting but for the price you can't go wrong. They even have a warranty (4 years was it?) . Even if you expect them to wear fairly quickly you could always replace them one by one with oem parts. But I can't see any one having many problems with these.

Yes, 4 years!

How much are people budgeting for garage labour to fit and then I assume require wheel alignment

Mate did mine for £250, although it took him most off the day and he removed and regreased my front driveshafts. Have t had tracking done again yet. But seems fine. Sadly changing control arms hasn't 100% cured my issues. Now gonna try new ARB bushes. Then it might be top mounts

I was under the impression that control arms, if not causing you problems, didn't need to be changed? Are these actually an 'improvement'/'upgrade' on the standard part or just a lower cost replacement than the standard Audi part?

A good comparison (although both Audi parts) would be the standard RARB and the RS4 RARB...?

It's more any wear or tear in the ball joints. If no problems exist then no need. Both my bottom ball joint boots have split for example, I was quoted 60 each side for the lower arms with trade discount do I may as well do the lot for a few more quid and know it's all good as new. Saves costs of wheel alignment year in year as other arms/joints/bushes wear.

These are pattern replacement parts, but uprated in any way.

What are/ is your issue?

Thanks for the response btw

Clunking sometimes when braking and turning. Control arms were knackered anyway and my driveshafts were dry. Going to try ARB bushes. And if that doesn't work top mount. Does anyone know if the top mount has a bearing! If so do they have a part number for it?

Just had a mail to say mine have been dispatched, so the 3-7 months wasn't quite right.
