What have you done today?

Nah buddy just went for it! But when I was doing it I peeled a little of the backing off stuck it too the top first then gradually peeled off the backing whilst smoothing out the vinyl and use a sharp blade too trim and tuck

Just mask around them and spray the excess on the paint will peal off and leave your rings black
 
My front ones are painted along with the surround but going to plastidip them soon.
 
Picked up my 4mm caliper spacers ready for my 330mm discs round two. Just need to find some dry weather. The 2piece discs are around 2kg lighter than the solid one piece discs!

So far, I've almost got everything I need for my double din facelift conversion! Just bought a cup holder for £13 collecting it on Wednesday! All I need is a few spade connectors to connect the amp to the Bose connector and a few bits of soldering and I'm done! Will document everything as it's possibly a guide many people will want to do in the future! Excited lots :)

in this moment still got flinstones type of engine :)
original was VR6 (ABV type of engine) but i sold that engine because i wanna put 1.8 T inside, probably some engine from audi TT 8N with 180 horse power or from golf IV GTI but maybe i will have luck and i will find some engine from S3 8L (i wish)

I love corrados as well, always fancied a g60 or vr6, and run the engine until it dies then swap in a 20vt. One day I'll own one.
 
Cleaned my injectors in the ultrasonic tank, found and fixed a fuel leak and replaced a split PCV hose.

MPG has gone from 21 to 31, Win!!

Painted my rings and surround today!-)IMG 20140615 WA0011 then threw some wheel tape on my bbs reps as im getting bored with them! Also sanded of the crome lip as its was getting corroded then laquered...IMG 20140615 WA0009

I've had a busy couple of weeks! finally got my cooler fully mounted and the car back together

First problem i had was ASH sent me the wrong 8mm joiner 3 times! kept sending me steel despite the advert on ebay saying it was alloy, got annoyed with waiting so bodged it. welded a couple plates onto the pipe then drilled and tapped a hole, then ran a dye nut down the hose joiner and whacked some sealent on it

At this point i couldn't get the lower valance back on because it was fouling quite badly on the silicone elbows, i gave up and drove the car home without the valance. As soon as i got home i realized i could have flipped the cooler upside down to raise the inlets a bit. So today i drove down to Phil Millers garage in Launceston, flipped the cooler then got it smoke tested, no leaks! ideal. Then tried to fit the valance again, turned out i hadn't trimmed the center grill, so out came the grinder. 10 mins later and a bit of elbow grease and the valance was attached and car ready to go. Just got to neaten it up a bit to be perfectly happy with it. And thanks to Phil for letting me use his grinder and make a racket in his garage! and providing a extra set of hands to fit it all back together

Looks smart, is that just an EBay FMIC kit? Looking at one for mine atm, but want to retain the fogs/ keep it completely stealth; easier said than done with an A3 bumper i gather.

I got the core from eBay and bought all the pipes from auto silicone hoses (also on eBay) so not a kit as such.

I've managed to keep the fogs but had to lose the grills next to the fogs, with black pipes it doesn't look too obvious though. If you can find JayA3's build thread I used his pipe routing/options. It's not the best fit, at the moment, need to trim a couple pipes down and got a bit of cobra necking on the cold side which would be solved with a 135 silicone instead of a 90. Even with the cobra neck it is no where near as restrictive as the stock system.

Edit: just seen you are also in Plymouth, you're welcome to come and have a look, just drop me a pm, I can probably give a few ideas on how to improve it a bit

So in preparation for the Curborough Spring track on Sunday, I though I'd give my divertor valve a service.

I got this AmD 'Viper' DV along with my remap many years ago, I have no idea if it leaks or not, but my car makes healthy power with it on, so no point throwing it away!

There was no yellow/green/red spring back in the day, there was just a metal coloured spring! Lol, 6 Allen key bolts, I just gave it a good wipe down, regressed everything and refit, job done!

Gave the car a good clean today and decided that the time has come to get these sorted out. A few nagging spots of corrosion on the rear wheel arches and some worrying bubbles starting to appear below the paint surface on the outer lip of the front wheel arch. As much as I don't want to touch the original paintwork, it needs to be done before it gets worse...

Any suggestions of a high quality bodyshop in/around Nottingham? I only want a top quality job.

do the front arches bolt on and off, i need 1 and a dooras i have a few rogue bubbles too, i think as we have the fairly common silver it would probably be cheaper to buy some good used parts...
 
Gave her a good clean and polish today







Did the haldex oil and filter service the other day, found that mine had the original metal mesh filter in, 15 years on she finally gets a new one!! So much for full Audi history ay.

Where did you order the ARB's from and their bushes? I'm thinking of doing the rear ARB on mine when i stick the new cat back on. Don't think I'll venture down the route of dropping the subframe yet however, not without a 2 or 4 poster!!

So I had a free day to work on my S3 today, might aswell do a whole collection of things whilst the back end is up in the air. I had only intended to do a Haldex oil service, but my ECS stage 1 rears have been on the car since 2007/8 and approx 15k miles?, so I though I'd strip her down and service the brakes too!

Haldex oil service is quite tricky on the drive, but after watching a guide on YouTube, it made it easy!

The old stuff was approx. 22k miles old, quite black with black bits floating around!

Post is from the heart (please be kind to an old dreamer!) - Not been on for a long time and saw the sad news about DaveS3.

Decided that today was the first day of the rest of my life.

So, my 2002 S3 8L in Ebony Black with body coloured mirrors having done 23k and completely standard is the love of my life and has never failed to put a smile on my face when I have driven her. (Definitely a girl car - given the backchat over the years despite or because of the low mileage!).

She has always been serviced at a Main Dealer! And I even had an Audi VW Specialist who was a friend of the family check her over pre- and post- service when I first got her!! Paranoid or what!!!

I have read Tuffy's build logs over the years and been in awe of the effort, attention to detail and determination that he has shown in realising his S3 vision - Bill obviously being pivotal in all this. My reality check is that I would never be able to walk in their footsteps.

My boss (her in doors!) has had an RS2, S2000, Golf MkV GTI and now got an 125i with M Sport extras!!! RS2 just old school turbo fun with phenominal grip, S2k open top VTEC howl, GTI too clinical and cursed, BMW easy fun ...

I still have my wonderful Audi S3 8L stock - coveted for high days and holidays - and a Mitsubishi Shogun for every day. She is a tank - (joke -> Just get out of my way!).

Realised that life is short... Had a few single malts ...

Should I leave 'Seven' (my S3) stock or tune her to 300 - 320 bhp?

Would I be able to maintain the day to day reliability or should I buy another car to be a member of the family with the intention to tune it.

Not really intended to post this but E46 M3 website, sad news and alcohol got me thinking ...

Didn't get too much done today, my rear end stuff is completed, so time to tackle the front end, she's been on axle stands since Wednesday. Managed to clean my front wheels and degrease all my engine covers, next plan is to do the SAI delete and N249 bypass, replace the headlamp washer jet pump and maybe spray my induction kit heat shield black! That's like 5 years of work crammed in a week for me! :D
