Just went out to wash and wax my car and noticed some bubbling occurring on the roof gutter/channel edge, looks like rust coming through. Anyone else had this? Am going to take it to the dealers and see how the try and get out of a warranty claim. FASH and there is a small perforation so....

there good at geting out of the claims
thya may offer you % towards it but with there labour rates its mad prices you have to pay

I'm expecting Audi to wriggle out of it. Got the car booked in and the tech said they have to provide a case to Audi UK who then get back to them. I'll update the thread on Thursday when they attempt to rip me off.

Such an odd place to get corrosion.

i thought quite a few got it around the roof bars

iv seen a few b6/7
with it at the front edge where the screen rubber is

audi inverness paint shop very good got the roof of my sline resprayed 6 months ago no problem. There were a couple of small blisters in the corner and they did whole roof they also did my a4 avant tail gate the year before as there was blisters around brake light top job

The dealer had a look, tested the paint thickness, looked at the corrosion which now looks worse just a few days on and has spread to the other side.

Audi have come back offering 70% goodwill. They have said it's "edge & fold corrosion" which isn't the same as body corrosion i.e. they are stating water has got into it rather than corrosion from the inside out.

Cost to me is just over £300 and is both roof gutters.

Thoughts?

Any other rusty bits?.....compared to up here that would be a bargain from Audi.

Cheers
A

No. I'm glad the other side has literally just started to go but nowt else. Was going to ask them to change the door chrome trims as the rubber has gone and see if they'll be nice :)

so for 300 there gona paint the full roof and blend etc ?

300 is about right for a roof to be painted being honest... Any more than that and it be expensive..
There won't be any blending if there are roof gutters as you will be going from edge to edge if you get me..

i was going on the above that the OP put
i know 300 is not to bad a price to be paying for the full roof but its with 70% so there saying a grand for the job

can you post a picture of the rust

Ah I understand now.. That's ****** expensive.. Add another grand to that and you'd get the whole car done..

An update: Car was due out on Monday (in for a week), they then found more corrosion so had to re-prep. Expected to pick up next week.

In the meantime I have a strangely coloured Renault to drive around in.

VW/Audi do this all the time.

My Dad's 2003 Golf went in the rain gutter, as did my 2003 Golf. They offered the same, 70/30 which my Dad accepted, but at some point in it's life my car had been resprayed near there. They wouldn't even give me the time of day, stating that it's been sprayed so it must be a result of that. Funny, how mine and my Dads, that were inspected at the same time, both had rust coming through in exactly the same place: oh, and countless other Golf's had gone there too.

Good to hear they're doing it though, 70/30 is better than not at all I suppose!

Picked it up on Friday. Didn't charge me any extra either. I haven't properly inspected but they've done the whole roof, which is nice as it had a nasty scratch. I do wonder if they ever fixed this problem as I only caught it with 2 more years on the body corrosion warranty left.

I'm interested, is it steel or aluminium that is corroding? Mine has the same. I'm guessing my B6 just got a little more expensive lol.
