Has anyone come across the problem of the lid that covers the hood storage compartment being locked on one side and unlocked on the other and will not budge with the manual key or with the hood control switch?

I have removed the back seat to get at the hood latching mechanism but there is no access and access through the boot appears well nigh impossible because the hood is in the way.

Any ideas short of taking a blowtorch to the lid?

Thanks

I haven't. But there's a guide on google of the 14 stages of the roof.

Try a manual release while someone else pushes gently onto the lid so it moves up and down a bit.

BlackQuat,
I looked on Goggle and found a 14 stage "Roof operation microswitch position drawings, which is very useful but doesn't solve my immediate problem as I'm pretty sure the lid locking mechanism is physically jammed because it is locked on one side and not on the other.

Cabby fan,

many thanks for your help, the problem is now fixed. I took your advice, except for the gently part and got my wife to bounce up and down on the locked side while I turned the manual key and it freed. Cowardice forbids me from mentioning my wife's weight but it is considerable but it seemed to do the trick! Thanks again

Woohoo ! Result lol. Might want to lube or check the alignment of the catches so they don't stick again. Glad it's sorted. Been driving too and from work all week with my roof down :yum:
