I am going to upgrade my Mk1 RNS-e to gain slight quicker response, better data storage in the SD cards and just a newer unit.

Choices are MK2 RNS-e or Exeo latest LED RNS-e unit.

Apart from having to swap out the fascia surround from my MK1 to the 2 is it worth it or should I just go for the Exeo LED latest unit?

Cheers all for any advice you can give?

Regards

Geoff

Exeo units are all LED, just depends on if you want the hassle of converting the fascias!!

I recently upgraded to mk2.... Bit of a pita to change the fascia over but best decision I have made along with a new 2013 map disc....

The Exeo units are a straight fit, no fascia needs changing as the Exeo has the A4 Cab dashboard and yes, all LED.

My question is are the worth the extea or wil lthe MK2 be ok? Shame the MK2 fascia needs to be changed but it was never fitted to a B6 or B7.

I have an MK2 - it's LED - I thought the Mk2 was the same as in the Exeo?

if the part number on the back of an Exeo unit ends 193 then it is the same as a Mk2 unit......

Nope, not the same part number and certainly not the same unit. It was revamped for the new TT and was also put in the Exeo. The bonus with putting it in the Exeo is that it has a B6/B7 fascia including the aluminum strip as the Exeo has the B7 Cab dashboard.

I have a 2011 Exeo unit - it's 32gb and led display but with the A4 B6/7 fit, silver lower trim line but obviously doesn't say Audi Navigation on the screen frame.

It's a 192 part number "3RO 035 192"

it looks like this:

That looks spot on. I am not a fan of the glossy surround or aluminum buttons, not worried about AUdi Navigation label either.

Its the best unit in my opinion.

Sorry, I thought you meant the same technically. The exeo and mk2 audi units are technically the same. The exeo unit, like you say cosmetically is closer to the mk1 from am audi (matt finish, no chrome knobs).

Mine is a unit from an A3/s3, I transplanted the face plate, screen surround and buttons/knobs so to look at its identical to an audi mk1 unit bit is in fact an mk2 umit

Same here...

The Exeo unit and the Mk2 Audi A3 and TT units have the same electronics so they will operate identically, it's only the cosmetics that are different.

Thanks for the conformation Dave, I'm gonna purchase the Exeo unit as it suits my B6 dash better and I havn't got to mess about with swapping fascia's etc.

Gonna have an RNS-e Mk1 for sale very soon!

Cheers all for the help.

From what I have read you can recode the screen so it boots up Audi or any of the S/RS series.

Personally I'm looking at a win based unit on ebay that looks identical to these units and is touch screen, I find the navigation system dated and the knobs make everything so long winded to do stuff.

Not true, the Mk2 RNS-E/Exeo doesn't have either an S4 or RS4 startup screen - Audi deleted it as the Mk2 was introduced after the B7 was taken out of production.
