very common buddy audi will do/ offer as little as the possibly can to fix it i went threw it all few mths ago both my front wings have gone big style and there offer was to pay 70% of the cost witch i thought was good till they said that my 30 % fee would be over £180 each per wing plus vat!!!!

Wooah. Seen on eBay a new oem quality wing in black for £120!

Anyway this is now the least of my worries as my neighbour just reversed into me causing this damage to the drivers side rear. Any ideas on repair costs?

That's a real shame, car looks gleaming. Whatever it costs, surely neighbour is paying it ?

That's going to cost quote a bit to fix rear quarter will need pulling out then prob filling plus paint then rear door too might be cheeper to just replace the door

just noticed the police in the reflection. Did you punch him

Seriously though the same happened to my a4. Cost me roughly £500 to have re arch and door repairer and painted

No the neighbour who hit me their partner is a copper and my friend. Got a little heated but decided to let insurers decide. She did say to me that she wasn't concentrating as her kids were distracting her also i was on my side of the road as I reversed out.

Worse case is 50/50 but I feel that once I reversed out on my side of road whilst facing forward and split second standstill she reversed into me. Only a scraped bumper on her car. But as I say she got and apologised and said she got distracted.

Could be a blessing in disguise, maybe you'll be able to come to an 'arrangement' with the repairer to get the whole lot sorted

Yeah may be and refurb all the alloys. I am guessing they can't match just 1?

I had to replace both front wings because of rust. I bought genuine Audi wings (£185 each) and I paid a £500 to get the whole front end painted.

That's not cheap!

The pics of the damage to the rear doesn't quite show everything there are 2 deep indents on the door crease. Really don't know how that'll be fixed?

As mentioned earlier maybe be best to buy a salvaged door and paint that. Will likely be less than the cost of a repair and paint

Apparently as there is no independent witnesses then insurers may go 50/50. Then my neighbour said that I swore at his wife and left the scene of an rtc. Which I didn't as they are friends and I left as we are neighbours and I had to collect son. I thought it's illegal to leave a scene without leaving any details so is he chatting crap?

Why did you get the police out, could you not have sorted it out behind closed doors with your neighbour? After all, you have to live beside them every day..

The neighbours husband and my friend is a copper. He came when she called him.

Depends...if she admits to crashing into you to her insurance company, then there's no 50/50, she's 100% liable. If she denies it or starts saying it's your fault then you're gonna have a bit of a struggle on your hands without witnesses.

And yes, you are right it is an offence to leave the scene of an accident without leaving details. The law says that if you are in a vehicle accident you must stop immediately, exchange names and addresses with the other driver or property owner and call/go to a local police station to report the accident if no one is about (not sure if this only applies if there is an injured party but still good practice to report the incident immediately for insurance purposes)

And the woman's partner, the copper, he's your friend? And now he's talking smack? Not much of a friend is he...? Tell them you're going to instruct an independent accident investigator to assess the damages/circumstances and see who is to blame. BDLI are a good one and their evidence is permissible in court.

The accident repair shop will asses damage for the insurer. I spoke to my insurer again after he made that comment and they said its fine as we know each other and I came back etc. they did say I have a good claim for not 50/50 as my damage is on the side of my car and hers is on the rear.

Your right about friendship. His wife admitted to me that she was distracted and didn't see me etc. if you accept liability then accept to insurer!! he wants to fix his own piddly scratch to avoid increased premiums whilst mine will be around 1.5k to fix and my premium could go up if 50/50 is the result. I am quite peeved tbh.

Assuming you're fully comp, advise your insurers of the facts as you understand them and let them deal with it. You might get lucky and there'll be full recovery - on the other hand, she might play the "we were both reversing" card - so make sure your report is very specific and detailed. Good luck.

Exactly mate, he obviously doesn't want a claim to be made against his missus/her insurance so he's playing dirty now. Probably thinks he can intimidate you a little bit and do as he pleases 'cos he's a copper.

I can pretty well imagine how it went down, her backing into you then jumping out all flustered, knowing full well she's just clouted your car and straight away apologising and saying how she was distracted by the kids (read: didn't look properly when reversing) and now she's playing a different tune. Don't let them bully you man, friend/neighbour/copper or not.

Just tell him straight up. Your bird reversed into me, jumped out and said "oh sorry, I was distracted by the kids" which in itself is as good as admitting fault so if you don't want me to claim against her insurance then pay to fix my car (get it in writing too if he agrees) or failing that you'll not only claim but also get an independent accident investigator out and they can do what they do best; interview the parties, check the damage to see if it points to who hit who (mention the fact that the damage is on the side of your car and the back of hers which makes it clear as day who drove into who), take all the notes and evidence in the world and conclusively document what their evidence shows had happened on the day in question. Hopefully he'll stick his tail between his legs and stop trying to fight you once he knows you're not f*ckn around.

Good luck mate, hope you get the result you're looking for.

That is spot on.

The thing is if I was driving forward then stopped where the accident happened and then she reversed into me then what's the difference? None cos she wasn't looking where she was going. Insurer said that I have a good case as my damage is on the side and not the bumper.

I won't be bullied I told him it's BS, it's not the act of a friend/neighbour and I am not accepting 50/50. He said see you in court. Lol.

Don't see why I have to be stung in the pocket for my excess and increase premiums when she admits damage, didn't look where she was going, distracted by kids and they are not claiming so they avoid paying excess and increasing their own premium. Joke

****. I'd do my damnest to make sure her bill is as high as possible. What's that mate? Your back started hurting today aswell? Best go see a doctor, Lol! J/k. I know it's not cool to advocate fraud but you get my point..take him to the frickin' cleaners man! See you in court, hah, what a jeb-end...let us know how you get on man. G/L.

Just thinking with an objective head on mate, don't let people on this forum fire you up for a fight to the death.

Try to fight it through insurance companies, don't let it get to court if you can help it.

The reason I say that is because the case wouldn't be held in criminal court (where the offence has to be proved beyond reasonable doubt), it would be held in civil court (where the decision is made on the balance of probability). The unfortunate side of this is that she could say any **** and bull in court and there are no witnesses to say whether it's true or not. They have just as much chance as winning as you and with legal fees and court fees it won't be cheap.
I think it would be a hell of a risk going to civil court over this when it's your word against hers.

Let the insurance company know what she said, get an accident assessor out and fight it that way.

This is only my advice on what I would do

I have told the insurance company everything they seem optimistic as my damage is on the side.

When to bodyshop today. It's approx £1k to fix and they may do my wing too !

Well that sounds positive. Fingers crossed for you pal

If you haven't done so already, try and get pictures of her damaged bumper too before they get chance to cover it up.

I am getting it fixed and will try and make sure my insurers claim it back off theirs as I am not accepting 50/50. My excess is £300 so I have to cough that up to.

Quick insurance question. Been watching my neighbour and how she reverses out of her drive and she is always reversing into the other side of the road. My question can I record her manoeuvring and use it as evidence against. I have declined the third party insurers settlement of 50/50.

You could but record her several times over the course of a week or so. And say it's a regular thing.

as far as I know yes aslong as you have permission to film any persons? it's like cctv, have have to be informed that you are being filmed

Is it legal though to record on to the street?

I remember this debate coming up on a BM forum a while back where a guy had a CCTV camera installed on his house as groups of yobbos were hanging around his car and at some point or another it was broken into. During the discussion it was mentioned about the camera partially filming the pavement area outside his house as that is where the break-in occurred and from what I remember the general consensus that came out of the debate it is that it IS illegal to film on the public street without permission - the camera has to be pointing at your own property only.

I'd still suggest doing a bit more research on the answer in case I/the people on the other forum were mis-informed and if it was me, I'd record it all anyway and see if it can be used somehow, someway, somewhere down the line. Maybe install a cheap CCTV on your drive and maybe it accidentally catches the woman doing her every-day reversing shenanigans out of the corner of its eye??

Good luck with it anyway pal..
