Hi guyz

I just realised I spec'd the acoustic rear sensors under the impression that it would have the visual display as well.can anyone confirm how this works? It will be so silly to not see the visual display to show you how close you are in correspondence to the sound :(
How many of you guys actually use this feature?I hope I didnt waste money spec'n it for nothing..

Thanks

Sadly there's nothing that shows on the screen............

I dont think so....its software i think...so the animation displayed just has to correspond with the sound

You can use VCDS to actually activate the visual display for free. I was going to do this but wanted front sensors as well.

Thanks for that, I'll be talking with Audi when the new car arrives.

Hmm not sure if Audi will do it for you as it was a paid upgrade from factory. They may and just charge you.

Is that in the price list? I'll have a look. But it might be worth getting it done the screen image would be worth having.

So is it illegal to do in anyway?

Would I be able to ask my dealer about this?

read the VCDS section

i own the vcds cable needed, then change the settings mentioned by monopole earlier about 5mins work

The display is just a pretty trinket really. The sound is far more accurate when it comes to judging distance - stop when it becomes a solid tone and you're about as close as you'd want to be.

Ok cool i think i understand it now..Did you buy the software then since you have the cable? If so is the official site the only way of acquiring this kit?anyway cheaper?

i bought the original because i had heard stories of copies not working but lots of people have since said they have had no problems with them, with the original you get all the back up you may need and free upgrades on software.

I personally think the visual is more than a trinket its handy to see which part of the rear is getting close,i realise that the sound goes solid when you are close but you don't know where on the rear it is.

I agree...

Okay so looks like il have to get someone to do it as buying the kit is silly since for the price of it combined with the price of the acoustic rear sensors i could of got the official full sensor package.

Im going to ask my dealer though maybe they have requests for this before and would either be able to do it themselves or direct me to someone near by

where are you based?

Hello guys,

I'm from Brazil and our package doesn't have any parking aid systems.
So I was talking with my dealer and they offered this parking kit (8V0054630).

My question is:
- If I install this parts will I be able to activate the visual aid on the MMI screen?
- Is it possible to install some not genuine Audi sensors and still have the visual aid enabled?

I've the acoustic only on my 2014 S3.
What I did was to reverse up to a wall until the acoustic was a solid tone, then get out and take a look at the distance left.
Anytime I now hear the solid tone, I have a reasonable idea of the distance left.

I agree with this.

I've got front and rear sensors but don't find myself looking at the screen at all.

Sure I get that...and im by no means a bad driver, actually a pretty good one...but still thought it would be nice to know if Im close to any obstacles behind me and which side its on rather than just hear the tone.I do suppose its not something i have to have to have, but if i can have something that extra in my audi why not..the more features the better :)

Asked the dealer to activate this. This asked for further details. Response was they would not do it, incase it effected car before collection.

I find it fine to use with just the rear sensors, got eyes to see in front, seem to think sometimes they cover a bit more than the rear perhaps and there is a certain wrap around to them as I often park against a wire mesh fence and it will beep once or so as i'm reversing towards it, not sure if its the fence or kerb it detects but it is quite sensitive at warning you, using that as well as the autodip mirror never had an issue.

I enabled my display via VCDS, but as stated above, very very rarely look at it.

Most of the time I'm looking at the door mirrors while reversing and listening to the tones, or actually turning around to see where I'm going !

Very rarely look at the display.

The passengers like looking at it, that's the most use its had.

Gents,
can somebody confirm, that activating visualization on MMI screen via VCDS works for rear sensors?
I am about to place an order on my new A3. I would like to set aside some money by ordering only rear parking sensors and then use VCDS to enable displaying on MMI screen. Just need a confirmation that it works.

Thanks!
