What is this part?

The other end of this bronze pipe has come loose and the engine is making a hell of a noise. Any idea what it is / does?

A part number would be great. I'm using an image off of another thread as my car is miles away parked outside a garage where the RAC guy dumped it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's the EGR cooler pipe. You can either reweld or buy a new pipe at around 300-400 quid.

Sadly I don't as mine blew off near work and I had to limp the car to an indie who did the work.

mark its position and get it braised save your self a fortune I did that with mine been spot on ever since

Thanks for your help. You were both correct. EGR cooler. £500.33 and a really poor experience with the RAC and the guys at my local audi Indy got me running again. That was an expensive and stressful 24 hours.

I removed my oil cooler from my old B7 (170bhp) when doing some engine fixes, only to find there was nothing wrong with the oil cooler, still have it in the garage somewhere, was gonna ebay it, pm me for a price if your interested pal.

Not sure if it will fit yours mate but someone might pipe up and let us know
