So annoyed!

Sorry to hear this, stone chips are bad enough this would drive me insane. It's a shame that the perpetrator is likely to get away with it, would have been nice to hear he had been found.

I'd be interested in the before and after pictures once it's repaired.

AStaley.

There's some scum out there. I had a V10 R8 as a pressie from the missis last summer (only for the weekend mind!) and someone keyed it - pure jealousy is what it is. I would have had to pay a ****** great excess to the hire company... but Chips Away came to my rescue and sorted it for under £100. Must say, they did a very good job. I never told the hire company of course!

Think that's your best option. I personally wouldn't go down the insurance route unless your policy lets you go to a bodyshop of your choice.

As others say, choose your bodyshop wisely - don't rush in to it. I did this years ago with a VW dealership and they had three attempts at colour match on silver paint to repair a damaged door. In the end painted three panels and struggled to blend it. Apparently they were a amateurs as they didn't turn the spray gun pressure down to do the blending. Little details it seems.

Anyone in the Sussex area recommend a paint shop for Dylock? Recommendations always best in my book with these things. :sos:

If you don't mind a drive, Headley Body Shop in Newbury are excellent. We had some significant damage to the side of our VW Golf which is a dark blue metallic and the repair is indistinguishable from the original. You now can't see what was a massive gouge out of the rear door even if you look very hard. This place was recommended to me by a neighbour and now I can see why.

All booked in for next week, it's at a place which is highly recommend. When I went there they had a r8 being sprayed so that's a good sign.

Thank you for the recommendation though :) I'll try to sort some photos out on dslr.

Dylock,

So pleased that you are on your way to getting things sorted, and you'll soon be back behind the wheel with a smile on your face. Good to read your last positive post and I hope I could be so, if I went through this experience.

Great News! May i ask how much they quoted for the repair?

Thanks, hopefully this time next week I should get it back like new again.

The price is a grey area.... £750 is the official price £250 a panel but there is a favour being done so it will be some discount that I have no idea. I'll know next week lol

Holy moly! ******* scum who did this!

Tell me about it. I really hate violence but some people do try hard to change my opinion on it. Just looking forward to it being sorted so I can put it behind me.

She's all fixed now!! They have done a brilliant job and in the fantastic sunshine today I can't see any sign of any work ever being done. Hopefully now I can get on with enjoying my lovely new s3 :))

Thats great news - happy motoring, back behind the wheel with a smile on your face :kissmyrings:

Great news, and that fact that its undetectable is a huge bonus.

Thanks everyone. I am loving it now that all is well. Amazing the difference it makes! The only thing I did notice was what looked like overspray around the door hinge area and on the wing mirror glass. It wasn't paint though because I was able to clean it all within half and hour. It was white in colour. All I can think of is polish, never heard of it being sprayed on though?

Light overspray from lacquer can be clayed off original paint if it's fresh.

I'd a BMW repaired at one stage and they didn't seem to cover the front bumper but a couple of hours with clay sorted it.

Bodyshop wanted to paint it, said it wouldn't come off... muppets

Glad you're sorted.
