S3 19" Wheel Choices ?

I think 19" wheels look stunning, but are they an inch too far for the appalling roads we have in the UK? The suspension is reasonably stiff as it is. I had a TTS on 19"s and it looked stunning but boy hit a drain or a pothole and it was spine jarring.

A set of nice anthracite 18" would look nice and ride better. But hey that's just my own opinion, as always your money your choice.

PCD: 5x112
Hub Bore: 57.1

are these the correct dimensions for the S3 SB ?

I doubt 8.5" wide will fit. The standard 18" rims are 7.5" ET51. Golf R and S3 saloon 19s are 8" - remember the saloon has wider arches.
The 8.5" ET45 will stick out an extra 19mm. That's a lot!
They also have 7mm less clearance on the inside.

19mm? Huh? That's almost an inch.

I'm running 19x8.5 ET45 on mine, and they don't stick out at all (0mm), let alone 19mm.

I think your math is off on this.

That's what the 1010tire offset calculator said. 19mm more than standard. Not past the wheel arch.

I agree, the roads around where I live are appalling. Can't imagine what the S3 would ride like on 19's, they'd defo look the muts nuts but practicality wise I decided it was a no go. That's why I decided on the 18's. Can't wait to get some Michelin Super Sports on, that'll make a huge difference.

I've been doing a lot of research on this as I'm just about to order a set of 19's in that exact size so I would say you are correct mr Lecht, here is a set of 8.5x19 ET 43 with 225/35x19 tyres and been lowered and I recon it is spot on!!...............

That looks perfect, any more info/pics on these wheels please, where to buy?

Yup. Don't bother. LD won't ship to us. Been down that road already.

For sure Con, would look awesome!

Can we get them in Aus? Shame LDPrestige don't ship to us they have awesome wheels. What about a freight forwarding company?

Nah they won't ship here. Originally when I spoke to them a couple months back they said they would. Then, when I finally got the car and wanted to order a set, they said no.

Freight forwarding would probably work but you'd have to pay VAT. It's quite a bit. Works out to around an extra $400 for us. A lot when we don't have to pay it to begin with!

Yeah I'm keen on painting them black. I don't think they set off enough on a glacier white car. Need to be darker.

Yeah. First that's a rendering. Anything looks good when it's rendered haha.

Second, still think they need to be darker. They don't stand out very well to me.

Lol..can't find any pics of them on an 8v. Think you'll have to go for em and then post loads of pics for us to see :D

Great on black as there is contrast. But not on a white car.

Rotors in solid gloss black? Thoughts?

Not a fan. Our local dealer had a black RS5 with full gloss black rotors and a marginal kerbing looked awful on them, and the car looked almost too black. Also they made the tyres almost look a bit brown.

Call me old fashioned but I think there needs to be some contrast going on otherwise it looks like a whole block of colour. Really annoyed I didn't photograph it as I'd always assumed it would look great and to my eyes it didn't. Even the dealers have just had the wheels returned to standard.

They are from a company called "Carbon Designz" I think but I couldnt access their website last night for some reason?
I was looking in google images for some carbon parts when i saw them so not sure if they are available to buy or not?

They look like they have been wrapped in real carbon and resin, I have had some parts done this way by a company called "C6 Carbon" and although i had to wait a while they did a great job on my TT interior parts. These guys will wrap just about anything.

Yeah those would fit straight on for sure. The stocks are 18x8 et50 (or 51?), so the only diff on these is one inch in diameter really. Straight swap, no rubbing at all.

I went with 235/35r19 on a 8.5 wheel with an ET of 46 and they fitted no problems, no sticking out etc

When I initially enquired with Audi about purchasing the Saloon 19's I too was told categorically they wouldn't fit...

Sorry man, a huge novice and don't know what half of those numbers mean. You clearly know a lot more than me, does it sounds like the Saloons 19's would fit just straight on?

Replied to the wrong message before. bjorngra, how did you fit these - dealer told me it wasn't possible?

Below is the email I received today from Preston audi, after asking IF..... They can get me 19s would they offset my wheels and what would the cost be.....as you'll see, not cheep..... Think I'll go down a different route.

All the best. Satdiver

We have had the cost for the wheels back just waiting on tyre cost, but the wheels are £3,130.80

We would not be able to take your current wheels in against these unfortunately possibly the tyres !

Wow that's a lot of money for a set of alloys. Jeez.
