S-line Mudflaps

Despite everyone saying it's not possible I decided to see for myself so I bought a set of front and rear mud flaps from my dealer.
Just fitted rears today and took a few hours, to be honest they almost fit anyway but half an hour with a dremel to reshape the contour made them follow the lower part of s-line bumper much better. Ignore fitting instructions in the box as they sit a bit lower than the instructions suggest and just drilled two new holes to the inside lip of the wheel arch liners, needed a couple of longer bolts too but otherwise straightforward.

Will try to upload some photos in a bit.

Next weekend will try fronts, a quick look suggests more modification of the flaps will be neded.

Nice one Simon, have been trying to work out what I was going to do on this front. Want mudflaps for the muddy country roads here in winter. Will await with interest as others will I'm sure.:icon_thumright:

Hi Andy, you need a couple of 2 inch bolts to fit the main side attachments, plenty of room behind so not exact, with locking washers or I used nylocks, the mud flaps fit about an inch lower than the instructions because s-line bumper is deeper than SE, so I also used a couple of metal supports at the inside edges of mud flap, 99p from pound shop.
Contour of flap needs adjusting slightly at its lower edge SE bumper curves in in one contour, s-line is straighter then tucks in at it's bottom, you need to adjust flap to copy this but it's no big job, I used a Dremel and it took 30 mins to do both.
Side fittings are lower therefore just drill 2 holes and use new bolts, you are drilling through week arch liner and plastic bumper support behind, easy to drill through, new bolts then fit sides. Original bolt supplied fits up under side into bumper once hole drilled and use plastic fitting supplied with flaps. As inside edges of flap are lower use metal support and original bolts from kit to fix to wheel arch liner to make to rigid, finished job is very solid.

Will be interesting to see how much protection these give to spray etc up the side of the car. You will have to go and drive down some mud covered roads.
 
Hi Simon,

Attached is a copy of the photo I sent to the dealer. They told me it didn't fit our SE because it was a mud flap for a 3 door car. It looks very similar to the s-line contour in your photos.

Edit: comparing the photos closer, I would say the kink in the s-line bumper is lower down.

They say that but the part number is identical. The s-line bumper is the same shape at the top but then the bottom turns in sharply, the flaps need reshaping to follow this.

Just checked - the rear mud flaps in the photo above had a part code of 8V3 075 101. The ones we have now have a code of 8V4 075 101. Have not had an opportunity to fit them yet, but they look right when holding them against the car.
 
****** Audi parts department :banghead: 3 door cars and 5 door cars have different mud flaps!

Had an injury, so only attempted to fit the mud flaps today. We have a 5 door Sportback car!

I had the 3 door rear mud flap swapped for the 5 door part. (see above) Fitted the rear mud flaps ok. Had to drill 2 holes - 1 in the rear bumper.

I was assured that the front mud flaps were ok. Hmmm... ???

Tried to fit the front mud flaps. The support under the car was about 1cm away from the surface to be mounted to.

Had a good look at the 2 sets of instructions. The correct rear mud flaps clearly state an Audi A3 Sportback 2013. Diagram number 1 even shows a 5 door car.

The front mud flap instructions just say Audi A3 2013. Diagram number 1 shows a 3 door car.

Why the feck are my dealership trying to get me to fit the wrong ****** mud flaps to our new car?

Just in case that is not clear - 3 door cars and 5 door cars have different mud flaps!!!

Sorry guys mud flaps ( also know as a means to increase air drag ) have no place on any modern car let alone a Audi -- dreadful .

... in your narrow minded opinion!

Many people who live in rural areas think mud flaps are a necessity.

Edit to add: you are PA, where do I collect my £5? :)

... this is why we will ALWAYS fit mud flaps...

A few years ago, a photo of the road we live on was in the local paper, discussing how much mud was on it. One time I asked my wife to please tell me which stage of the Circuit of Ireland Rally she had just been on? As I was just about to wash her car it looked like she had been driving through a field. If you meet a lorry/tractor on our roads the left tyres usually have to go on the muddy verge. So regardless of how they look we need mud flaps to help protect our cars and keep them a little bit cleaner. And I still had to buy a pressure washer to remove the mud and cow crap off our cars before washing.
