Hi all,

The chrome window surrounds on my A4 are looking a little tired these days. Does anyone know of any useful tips on how I could possibly rejuvenate them to get them back to being all shiny and er, chromey?

...or do I just need to think about replacing them (if that's possible)?

J:)

They should never have been "chrome", they are brushed aluminium. Saying that, no one has really ever come up with a way to get shot of the cloudy patches etc apart from wrap them in black or cf wrap.

It's also an option to remove them and replace with new chrome from Audi. Someone on here did just that.

I decided to remove mine, key the chrome with some fine grit wet/dry and have them repainted gloss black, along with every other piece of chrome on the car.

One of me mates has OCD when it comes to car cleaning,s he has bought this chrome polish which is the nuts, makes ya chrome roof rails look like brand new, something boys its called, i think!! lol

Aren't they laquered and it's under the laquer that's the problem? Not sure what polishing would do to fix that, if it's the case.

Had mine buffed when I bought the car and have been perfect ever since.........but I do wash the car every week which more than likely gives it protection

So when i have me car buffed, get em do all the chrome aswel, i was mine every weekend, rain or shine, so hopefully should stay all good!

Will tuck into this when I get a bit more time.

Am I right in assuming the same will work for the chrome surrounds on the radiator grille and at the base of the bootlid?
