I almost ended up backwards on roundabout
Anyone replaced their tyres on their S3 yet and if so what with?
Cheers
JT
I've not got an S3 but a 2.0TDI-184 s-tronic quattro. Fortunately for me it came on Dunlop Sport MAXX RT tyres which would have been my other choice.
^ For an A3 thats almost as quiet as a Rolls-Royce Ghost, read this thread:

Glad to hear you finally got delivery of the 184. Hope you are enjoying it! Just out of interest what kind of noise levels do you get from the Dunlop's RT's? I went for GY F1 Asy2's on the front of mine and it improved the road noise a bit over the Conti 5's. I still have Conti's on the back at present, so I wouldn't describe my car as quiet. Road noise remains my biggest issue with the A3. It is far too high. I find myself reaching for the stereo volume knob when doing more than 50mph. Just back from the US where I had a 240ps Ford Fusion Titanium and it was so much quieter, even if it did do 20mpg!
Chris were you on SCN remember that name from somewhere?
A little, but nothing special. It's definitely less than is offered by PS3s for instance.
Don't have an S3, however for my tuppence worth it has to be GY Eagle F1 Assy2's.
Three reasons; grip in the wet, road noise, and the excellent rim protector.
My previous A3 had Hankook Ventus Evo S1 tyres and them seem to be very quite. The Dunlops on my new A3 are just as quiet and I don't get very much type noise at all. Mt wife and I can chat at normal volume even doing 70-80 mph. I must say the cornering with the new 184 quattro is amazing. I'm off to the North York Moors for a week tomorrow and I should get some good driving in.
This worries me. Mrs Pulp loves getting wheels very close to curbs.
There is a thread somewhere on one of the car forums, where they use a pound coin to demonstrate how much rim protector there is.
From memory, Conti's you can barely rest a £1 coin on, Assy2's you can get 2 £1 coins side by side within the rim protector !
edit: found it, it was our very own ASN RS3 forum!
see thread below for photos:

I agree about the rim protector. It is the largest I have seen on any tyre. Even I will struggle to wreck the alloys!
Good find - thank you. My company BMW has Goodyears and the rim protection is at least a centimetre. Very handy!
Is park assist the one that parks the car for you ? If so I have seen that feature curb a mates wheel while he was showing it off to me. I've taught Mrs Pulp how to use the mirrors now when parking so hopefully be OK
Maybe they changed the design of them recently as my Conti 5's definitely have AO stamped on them and have very small rim protectors. My car is 2013 plate 13 reg.
