Hi all
ive ordered an a3 saloon with standard speaker setup...Anyone here not gone for the audi system or b an o and has no regrets? I like my music but is the standard speakers that bad.? Couldn't justify the extra cost

I've got standard system. I'm a big trance fan though and regret it massively! It's perfectly adequate though, with decent bass and treble, just on some sources such as SD, I wish it was louder and had a real thumping bass.

I don't listen to music or the radio in the car very often and I have the standard speaker setup and for me it's fine. If you like listening to music a lot in the car it may be worth considering the *** at £255. Some members think the B+O system is great but it would be very poor value for money in my case at £750. It's definitely personal choice.

The main thing is to be sure before the order for your Saloon gets fixed by the factory, usually 4 weeks before the build date, as it works out very expensive to retro fit either system. Something in the order of £1895 +vat for the B+O.

I don't even think they offer the retrofit for the 8v yet do they?

No regrets with the standard system as I don't listen to much aside from the radio..

If you listen to music, upgrade to at least the Audi Sound System. IMHO, my car would be spoiled without it and £255 on a £33k car (in my case) is peanuts....

Agreed. I think that if you state that you like your music then £255 is very much a justified cost, especially in relation to the cost of the car.

Nobody thought of going Aftermarket? For that price of the b&o you could have an epic system for probably less

I think most people are weary of warranty issues when fitting aftermarket systems.

I like my music, the demo car I tested had the standard system which was terrible imo and so I opted for the B&O. B&O really is awesome imo!

I was going to tick the B&O box, but after hearing the audi system upgrade after the B&O, couldn't really see where the extra money was going. The sound quality of the *** IMO is on a par with the BOSE I had in my last three Audis... so plenty good enough for me. I mainly listen to the radio anyway... I'd rather spend the money elsewhere on the options list.

The B&O is very good and I actually considered getting it just for the LED stripes on top of the music performance. In the end specced *** as I really wanted the LED headlights and actually feel its a good compromise to ensure my budget was kept too without compromising sound quality too much.

*** is ok and I agree it is similar to 8p Bose IMHO but B&O is better again and with interior light pack makes the interior look awesome!

Not really into my music in the car, but if I was, I would have speced B&O I suppose. It's just a bit of chrome around the speakers to me

Trust me on this. The standard system is terrible. I know...I have it and have a few threads on the subject. *** as an absolute bare minimum.

Get ***. I'm on the standard system it's not terrible as some people suggest, because with other brand cars you can get much worse (or better). But if you do enjoy music etc, £255 extra isn't much and you won't regret it. I'm regretting not getting it because my car was approved used so I couldn't be that picky.

Standard sound system really isn't that bad (if u don't listen to ur music really loud and don't mind lacking a bit of base). I was impressed by the quality in my test drive and my mate was too. For a standard system it must be amongst the best. I opted for *** as I think its the best value all round!

Has anyone noticed with the ***, that if you have the subwoofer setting turned up too loud, the songs treble actually gets quieter when the bass kicks in, would be nice to hear what setting people have there sound system settings set to :)

Please feel free to share :)

I guess it depends on how much you enjoy music.

If you have a decent setup in your home and know why MP3 should be 320 then its probably worth it. Of course if your music taste relly on lots of low bass then the sub will be a requirement which you wont get with the standard system.

rush to the dealer and change the order to ***. I got it and don´t regret it for a moment.
