Hello,
I'm just getting the car into shape for the summer, just refurbed the alloys & full machine polish.

I've just noticed my chrome exhaust tips have seen better days! tried polishing the outer edges but they have gone abit and chrome missing so need some new ones.

Question is will they come off? and can I buy replacements? anyone know where I can get some new ones if they do come off! i'm reluctant to pay main dealer prices but want some good quality.

Cheers

They just pull off,I tried some autosol on mine when I had it.
If you want new ones check if Skoda ones will fit ,I stuck Skoda yeti tail pipe son my wifes mk6 gttdi golf, same item but cheaper than from vw, lots of scirocco owners do this.

Bought mine off eBay and polished and sealed them before putting them on - 6 months later they still look like new !

I used some autosol and then collinite wax. Seems to be lasting well ;)

I'm after these too, depends what engine you have as I belive there's different sizes after searching, but I'm after the 80mm ones part number 8K0071762 but can't find non in uk only abroad bar dealer

Mine are non audi and came from abroad. They turned up in 5 days. They were not sized when i ordered them .

The non Audi ones tend to corrode quicker, so I'm not keen on that.
I'll probably go to dealer and order tbh. Genuine is best ;)

Just been out trying to clean mine. They are certainly beyond cleaning. Chrome is all pitted.

I agree you sometimes only get what you pay for but if you look after them they should last a while. If they are protected they resist corroding to a point. And they are reasonably cheap so you can afford the change after 3 years if they look a bit old

Theres a seller on eBay ATM with these for sale iirc about £22.99 and look Oem clip on too, but only for the 1.8 petrol and diesels with same pattern pipes as yours.
I was gonna buy but they are too small as mines dual but 1 pipe at each end and have a bigger bore 80mm 2.0 petrol.
Parts depot uk had some genuine ones for £49 but out of stock!

I paid £18.00 from eBay. I'm Not paying £50.00 for two little bits of chrome ! Lol

I used some wire wool, autosol and some meguires metal polish along with some elbow grease and they look bran new! :)View attachment 31177

So Back to my original questions?

I take now that the chrome exhaust tips do pull off the car (2.0tdi sline,2008), and new from audi they are £50!

I'm reluctant to pay £50, anyone know the dia required?? as I have just tried to measure them and its a little difficult with the original tips on and they are at an angle,.... they look somewhere between 65-70mm?

Or if you have bought decent ones, could possibly give me a link to order some?

Mine are beyond polishing up! no chrome left on the chrome outer edge.

Cheers
