Hi All,
I'm thinking about putting together a possible Audi meet in the next few months, for anyone thats interested??


Possibly looking at a meet next month ( 29th March ), possibly with a crossover of members from Jaguar forums which I'm on.

It'd be a chance to meet other enthusiasts, see some nice cars, maybe make a few new friends.

The biggest benefit aside from that is a possible visit to one of the ZF (GB) A rated suppliers / manufacturers in the UK, one of only 2 I believe, they're offering a factory tour, short presentation from the MD, Q&A session as well as laying on refreshments and finger food.....

For anyone suffering from transmissions issues, or who'd like their transmission serviced or refurbished at a reasonable price, its a great opportunity. I haven't mentioned any names for obvious reasons, added no links etc etc and am promoting no one, its simply a possible real benefit to those Audi owners that either want their transmission flushed / serviced or have issues and would like the best professional help possible.

I've added this to VWAudi forum too, so there may end up being a 50 / 50 show of Jags and Audi's

If it clashes with the Crieff meet, I'll be disappointed as I'd love to be there too, but can't be in 2 places at once unfortunately.

I have a wedding the night before so I probably wouldnt be fit to drive the next day or else I would have come along. Would of been nice for a change. Jags are something I know literally nothing about so would of been educating

A4vnt - Its not about winning or is there more Jags than Audi's. its about a "meet" & a factory tour of the premier transmission shop in Scotland, if not the UK. Its a chance to get to see other enthusiasts, meet them and see their cars

R90 - Such a shame you can't make it, we'd have loved to have had you there. Hope you enjoy the wedding.

i tell a lie it is the 28th of feb the wedding is! If uni allows for me to have the time to come along then I will be there. I will let you know nearer the time :)

yes, I only got my audi last summer and attended 3 meets in total. There is a go kart meet coming up mid March you should come along to - its set to be a good day

Update - One of the members may be trying to get their gearbox serviced on the day. I'm not 100% sure if this is possible as they do not usually work a Saturday and will be opening up especially for our visit.

Hey Kewe,
as you've probably seen, this sin't just specifically an Audi meet, more of a Jag / Audi meet with a factory tour of Mackies Transmissions specialists thrown in, but should be a good day.

Would love to meet you if you're up for it, should be some nice Audi's and a few nice Jags there too, some nice people and hopefully a bit of craic.
We should be at the Innkeepers at Starthy for around 1pm I'd say

From M74 take jctn 2A and head for City Centre, just off the roundabout there is a set of traffic lights near STERLING, Turn right into Causewayside street and Mackies is around 500 yards on the right.

Mackies to Innkeepers Lodge / Toby Carvery ( Around 6.4 miles and 10 minutes driving )
Exit Mackies and head back to the M74, head for Carlisle. Once on the M74 take jctn 5 ( A725 ) after the services and head for Strathclyde Park ( just off the roundabout )
Innkeepers Lodge is immediately on your right
Strathclyde Country Park, Hamilton Road, Motherwell ML1 3WB
I've spoken with the Manager at Toby Carvery and organised the use of the overflow car park at the rear. This is shared between themselves and Holiday Inn Express, should be room for around 30 cars and is seldom used so will be good for our needs.

Note - Anyone NOT coming on the factory tour is more than welcome to attend at Strathclyde Park for the meet event.

Unless you're confirmed for the factory tour though ( numbers are limited ) its unlikely you will be able to enter that portion of the day, but we'd be happy to see you at Strathclyde Park.

I've spoken with the Manager at Toby Carvery and organised the use of the overflow car park at the rear. This is shared between themselves and Holiday Inn Express, should be room for around 30 cars and is seldom used so will be good for our needs.

Note - Anyone NOT coming on the factory tour is more than welcome to attend at Strathclyde Park for the meet event.

Well, what a great day this turned out to be??

It was quite a little overcast early am and stayed that way for a while then cleared up a little in the afternoon, but crucially stayed dry.

Arrived at Mackies at around 9.35 am expecting to be the first there, only to find several cars already there....superb!!!

Most everyone else started to turn up over the next 10 - 20 mins or so and almost everyone was there by 10am, ready for a start.

There was the last minute issues with a few members who had to cancel, but we managed to fill their slots, and ended up with around 30 cars and 35 people......a few more turned up later for the meet event portion of the day too!

Due to the above and also to ensure that Mackies had a firstclass turnout, rather than a Jaguar meet, it became an enthusiasts meet event with around 22 Jags, about 7 Audis and 2 BMW's

I must apologise to all......I honestly thought I was organised, but missed a few things, (name badges as it turns out with that many people would have been a good idea for a start )

Also trying to get around everyone to make sure all were included, I may actually have missed one or two....If I did I can only apologise, but did my best.

The Audi owners and BMW owners all seemed to join in very freely and hopefully had as good a time as we had, I thought everyone gelled together particularly well.

I must say a HUGE thank you to Mackies for what I thought was a great presentation, very easy one to listen to, no sales pitch as such, just good solid useful information

Coffee / tea / juice and sandwiches / biscuits all laid on too....fanatastic and really appreciated.

We were fortunate enough to have been given "goodie" bags from SNG Barratt that included various branded items.....THANK YOU so much SNG.
These were handed out and and appreciated by all, and really helped to make it a lttle more memorable.

We also gratefully received a $50 gift certificate from Pinnaclewax...
All names entered into a hat and Peter's wife Anne was kind enough to make the draw.

Gasthecat won, but as he was not there, it was re drawn and GGG of all people won it......couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke IMO.

Please excuse the terrible phone pics and the hasty reply, just wanted to get something posted up as it were.

Graham of course had the all singing all dancing top of the range camera and took decent pctures pf everything and everybody.

I'm hoping he'll post these up along with a proper write up, but guess that may take some amount of time, so please watch this space.

In the meantime, I'd like to thank John and his staff at Mackies, SNG Barratt & Pinnaclewax for their kind donations, & also to every member / non member who travelled to be there today.

I was fortunate enough to meet some lovely people and really enjoyed your company, I hope you had an enjoyable day too.

Argh Jim something came up and i couldnt make this, looks like you had a cracking day out and im gutted i missed it, maybe next time. Glad it stayed dry for you all makes for a much better day :)
