I was going round the Army & Navy roundabout in Chelmsford on Monday and pulled to a stop at traffic lights (on the roundabout) the car behind me also pulled to a stop, then for no reason he just drove into the back of me!
As I pulled over he just drove off up an exit behind me so I was unable to follow or get his number plate!! #sopi$$edoff

Reported it to the police etc, checked out the damage and thought it didn't look as bad as I thought

Thinking bumper re spray and a little panel work. Took it in for a quote (trying to avoid my premiums going up) but.......

Approx £2000ish worth of damage!!! Behind the bumper the crumple zone is fully crushed.

So insurance claim it is :( I have phoned Audi Ensurance and they are sending me to a company called Balgores Motors in Romford as an Audi approved repairer. I wondered if anyone has had any experience with them, the reviews seem pretty varied?

Makes me even more sure I want a dashcam now... and a 2 channel one at that!

In my old car I had a van swerve into my lane and hit my car. I ended up chasing him into town for a good 10 minutes, managed to pull up alongside him at a junction and got him to pull over. No damage luckily but took his details anyway!

Sounds like it was an accident, but then they drove away to avoid the consequences. Makes me angry when people do that!

I am gutted about it!!
I started looking up dash cams the next day and kinda decided on the blackview 550 too. Then peeked on here and saw your post, thought "now that's a coincidence"

I am hoping the insurance company will push the police to check any CCTV? Chances are though he prob drove off because of no insurance anyway!

At least then you can report him to the police and try and get it sorted that way. My insurance (Direct Line) supposedly has protection against uninsured drivers, and won't affect your no claims they say as well... not sure what the catch is though, there must be one!

Yeah I have no claims protection etc as well but I'm sure the premiums will still end up increasing as I have made a claim though. Oh well that's life I guess :( W@nk3rs!! Lol sorry about my typing tourettes but I think I'm allowed ;)

I have a blackvue in my car for the front - had it in my Peugeot for > a year . its great and very customisable unlike most. DO NOT buy the cheapo ones off ebay or amazon as they are S**T - for a laugh I bought a £15 which is so hopeless I may as well have set fire to £15 as basically it can only be charged up if the car is on, dumb and the quality is like a 20 year old phone

Well, I've just bitten the bullet and ordered it. Blackvue DR550GW + Power Magic Pro.

Blackvue 500 demo - with near lowest quality settings and not best camera position

Yeh, I am getting pro installed in a few days. 2 Blackvue's front/rear and power magic. I am also too busy to do it myself and too lazy

I already have 1 blackvue 500 so getting a 550 is pointless for me. 550 is pretty much the same as the 500 but with an additional rear camera

Wifi is dead handy when installing

if you know the make/model call local repairers and see if they have a car matching it - worth a try

Can't believe the police aren't doing more for you and checking cctv. If you know a make, model. Colour and maybe a basic reg then they should be able to check cctv for the area of a mile at least around where the crash happened

Can't believe people drive off like that!
Just adding to what was said above about direct lines uninsured drivers promise one of my old cars got crashed into and wrote off. The driver was banned, no insurance and it wasn't his car... I was fully comp with direct line and did eventually get paid out plus my excess and no claims back. Probably had about 6 months waiting for that though plus they wouldn't provide a courtesy car as I wasn't actually claiming through my own insurance. So had to buy another car short term with cheap insurance to wait for the payout and no claims back. Took lots of phonecalls and hassle whilst they investigated and this was with the other drivers name and address etc as the police arrested him when they recovered the cars. So it does work just not quickly!

How quickly do the SD cards fill up? and do they dynamically wipe themselves and start filling up again?

With the little bit of knowledge I have picked up so far they record on a rolling loop and it is decoded by software on your pc or smartphone.

I'm glad you got that sorted in the end, I guess only time will tell for me :(

From what I have read it records over the oldest files first.
I'm saving for one myself, had someone try to "brake for cash" at a roundabout recently

It seems the time is now here to invest in one of these. Feel for you, nothing more hateful than the ar$€holes who do this sort of thing then get off scott free whilst you pick up the tab above and beyond what you have already had to pay for your pride & joy.

and the worst bit is the court will give them a £50 fine - its a joke, anyone with a brain cell would see the fines as NO deterrent. It should be at least the cost of the insurance PLUS a £1000 fine minimum. Who cares if they cant afford it, tough.

We are too soft in this country. It is near impossible in a reasonable sized town to get insurance on ANY car for <£250 - I had a fiesta runabout for a year with full protected ncd, no accidents, one 3 point and 46 years and that was £250 a year to insure.

My wife scrapped a car and she phoned me as she didn't know what to do as she hadn't had an accident before in >10 years driving - and the other driver wasn't there - I just told her to leave her details on the windscreen
