Audi a4 1998 1600 CC temperature reach 100

Hello , I am a new in this sight and I hope somebody help me ... My car is running normal and temperature gage shows 90 but if traffic becomes Heavy and cars go very slow , I found the temperature exceed 90 and may arrive about 97 . I checked with a mechanic and we change the fan clutch but the problem still the same , then we put the car on computer test and we found that no fault recorded but also we found temperature on computer arrive 99 but shows on gage 90 , so I don't know is that sensor or what else . And a part number for correct sensor . Finally what is the normal temperature limits for this engine .

The instrument cluster is designed to sit on 90 degrees even when the engine varies between approx 80-100, so nothing unusual there.

Are your electric fans coming on when it gets hot?

a 1.6 without AC probably wont have electric fans.

99c is fine and normal, the viscous coupling in the fan clutch probably wont really lock up until then anyway

I would start to worry if it got to 105c.

I'd stick a new thermostat in it just incase, it might not be opening fully. If your going to replace the temperature sensor, buy one from Audi directly, they're not that expensive and the pattern copy ones can be iffy.
