Hi Everyone

Am in process of upgrading the A3 with Xenon Headlight

The Car is a 2010 Facelift A3 2.0 TDI Right hand drive which currently has halogen lights

The Bi Xenon headlights I have acquired are the following:

Nearside Headlight 8P0 941 003 1ZS 009 648-17
Driver side Headlight 8P0 941 004 1EL 009 648-10

The Current headlights fitted to the car are the following part numbers:

Nearside Headlight 8P0 941 003 1LJ 009 648-03
Driver side Headlight 8P0 941 004 1LJ 009 648-04

The car currently has the following CECM (Central Electronics Board) in place 8P0 907 279N

In my understanding this CECM will support the headlight Upgrade

The instrument cluster installed in the car is the following part number: 8P0 920 982 C

I do not wish to install the headlight levelling or washers as yet. For now i just want to get the headlights to work without any errors displayed on the dash

Can some one please point me to the a link or a supplier who can send me the correct adapters for the upgrade

And also advise me on the best way of getting these 2 wires threw the bulk head that go to the CECM and where in the board these 2 wires go.

According to my research this is all i need to do to get them working correctly without any errors,

Have i missed anything?

Many Thanks

Hi Mate,

the adapters you need are these ones: KUFATEC GmbH & Co. KG - Xenon/HID Headlights - Adapter- Audi A3 8P & 8PA Facelift

select the 2009 ones since you have the N rev CE module.

the wires go through under the drivers side scuttle panel and under a panel there into the drivers footwell.
Once installed you will need to code the CE module for it to work properly without errors.

Where abouts are you? I can do this install for you if you need?

Ok your biggest problem "which someone should of advised 1st" is, both headlights are left hand drive so useless on UK roads for mot's, it will fail on the beam alone, also 1 headlight is normal bixenon & other is adaptive, so if you ever come to do the levelling system, you're basically goosed as it wont work.

If you want to sort out the proper headlights for UK roads then give me a shout as I can get brand new for you delivered.

Hi which xenon is non adaptive and which one is adaptive?

Which part of the part number tells you this

And how do u know if they are for left hand drive?

And what sort of money am i looking at for the correct ones?

Many thanks

003 changes to 029 & 004 changes to 030, but the important part are the letters on end, AR is adaptive & these denote to us sided versions aswell.

PM me for prices.

If I was to fit these headlights will I be able to get then working correctly bearing in mind one of them Is adaptive?

By working correctly I mean no warning lights and lights comin on as they should?

Do I new to have the adaptive module for the other headlight to get the lights to work with put any issues?

Many thanks

Hi, im looking at old posts and I am battling to understand the the headlamp labelling. How do you know by looking at the label if its LHD OR RHD and Xenon or Bi-xenon and if its adaptive or not?

Could you explain?

Part numbers & the actual parts catalogue differentiates them with these numbers.

I was confused recently too mate. Correct me if im wrong but i think all facelift headlights are either halogen or bi-xenon. I dont think you can get normal xenons?

I no this is a old thread but can anyone tell me where the too extra wires go to on the cecm it self (what pins)
Thanks in advance.

What year car do you have mate?

Hi all,
I'm searching for the correct information on retrofitting the xenons to my 2009 8P facelift.
Is there a definitive guide anywhere? There's a lot of threads that lead to nowhere.

I figured it out on my own in the end, be prepared for some hard work and if you’re not experienced on working on cars, leave it to a pro unless you’re really prepared to have the car off the road whilst you work it out.

In short:
Once you have the correct headlamps for your car, adaptive or non adaptive:

1) get the correct loom for your year of car from Kufatec, these come with wiring pin outs which will tell you where to connect the extra wires.
2) you’ll also want to order several pins to add the new wires to your body control module as they won’t be there on the body control module and they’re not fitted to the kufatec loom.
3) remove your old headlights and fit the adapter looms, there will be two extra wires on each side to run. The easiest place to run them is through a plastic panel under the scuttle, drill a hole and put a rubber grommet in and run them through.

4) once the headlights are fitted, you’ll need to run VCDS and use it to tell your body control module you now have xenons and it will essentially use the wiring pins for different signals etc.
DONT FORGET: save a copy of your current coding to your computer just in case it doesn’t work and you want to return to original settings.
The easiest way to do this is to open the control module, click the coding helper button and the. tick the options you want (xenons with LED drls) and then use the code it produces to recode your module.

If you’re fairly local to me (SE London) I’ll help for a few beer tokens
