Bought a car yesturday 2008 a3 sportback S-Line 1.8t FSI with just 28k miles.

It seems to have an exhaust valve, as far as I knew only S3's have this?

myself in another topic said:
If I use my S-tronic to go between P or N and then D or R or S the exhaust note changes to a deep louder boomy noise, but the rev's don't change at all. Also when I drive this noise goes away then comes back near 2.8k RPM, and if I drive it say in 3rd at 3k then paddle up to 4th I hear a metallic clunk noise near the back of the car and the exhaust goes quiet again. I am pretty sure there is a flap but can't get under the car to have a look. Ideally I would want to delete the flap/valve as I like the noise all the time!

Has anyone else found an exhaust valve like this or similar experience?

Is it easy to make it open all the time if there is a valve/flap?

So I had it up on a ramp = no exhaust valve in the tailpipes.

Had centre resonator replaced with stainless pipe.

There still seems to be a valve, at 2.7krpm exhaust gets a lot noiser, and exhaust note and noise changes selecting between P and N OR D, R, S, yet the revs don't change. Start driving about 5mph and exhaust goes quiet again.

I want to find this flap to disable it but can't find any info anywhere!?

you don't have one then, it;s just a resonance you can hear.,
