Whine from year diff area stage 3 imola yellow

Hi all I have recently purchased a imola yellow s4 with stage 3 mods 620 bhp.

It seams to have a whine from around 50 to 70 mph but only when on the throttle if you back of it's not there and it's not there below 50 or over say 75.

Im guessing it's the rear diff both bearings have been changed

anyone else had this issue?

im also looking for info on an up rated diff if I'm going to change it I may as we'll get a better one. Is rs6 diff the same ??

I've got this issue, but i think its the main gearbox in mine.

It also whines from 40-55ish too.

Have you checked the diff oil level?
 
Yea it's ok. The noise is definitely from the rear and car has had a recent box rebuild
 
I had this on the car I broke at the end.of last year. I had a leak from the diff a few years back, so wondered if it had started to deteriorate way back then when oil had been leaking from it. Obviously had the seals replaced, but guess once any wear starts to occur, it will get worse quicker.

Not many options for upgrade. Quaiffe do a rear diff. There was talk recently on SRS about someone who had got a B7 RS4 rear diff to fit, but there are anecdotal evidence of these going bang when subjected to big turbo torque.
