** Updated Price ** She's pregnant... S3 for sale :(

haha, its not that mate, she's more than happy for me to keep it - but unless I change the seats which im not inclined to do, there's no other option than to sell. If it doesnt sell this time round i'll keep it until the time comes then change.

Me and my missus expecting a baby soon too and we defo keeping our 3dr S3, I firstly thought I might be looking into selling it but after good look around We decided to keep the car as its such a good ride and not much could compare against it (especially in stage2+ form:gun2:). 3dr wont be much pain either just a little more hassle but hey who cares, let my missus to take the back seats worst case or just stay home and cook some dinner!

Spot on.
We started out clipping the removable seat from the pram in and out of the car which was no big deal anyway, but then it actually got easier when she graduated into a proper baby seat as we left it permanently fastened in the car and then just switched the brat between the car seat and the pram.

Piece of pish really. And that was a VR6 Corrado!

The secret is to leave the seat in the car so if you have 2 cars, as we did (both 3 door BTW!), then buy 2.
Cheaper than changing cars.

The only comprimise we ever made was eventually swapping the VR6 Corrado for a VR6 Golf because we couldnt get pram and other stuff in it. But I cant see why an A3 would ever cause a problem unless you are into extreme ironing or go canoeing on your lunch break or whatever. :ninja:

We traded my wife's TT roadster for a 3dr S3 with Recaros last October when she became pregnant. We couldn't stretch to a sportback and only wanted to compromise so far. Glad she's unlikely to read this thread though. I'm in the habit of sliding the seats all the way forward if anybody is getting in the back and that gives more access than most super minis lots of Mums cope with. Am planning on an ISO fix base so it's a quick and easy to lock the seat in.

burtracoon, can I ask which year S3 you have? I'm guessing these baby seats must be smaller than i'm imagining, as I just cant see how I could get one through the gap. If you have a spare moment, could you possibly upload a pic of your car i.e. the gap and the child seat? Just so I can get my head around the idea. Cheers.

I ran and still run a 3 door with buckets whilst my wife was pregnant with my second child. Admittedly they aren't the biggest car but it still can work, the kids love it and so does my wife. I tried to trade it in for an RS3 and she wasn't interested, still have it now with 2 Recaros in the back as well as the front.

It's a 57 plate. To be honest as she is 22 weeks so I have yet to try my theories and am nervous of how it all pans out in practice, hence following this thread with great interest. The car was her choice so have told her if it's tricky she will have to suck it up, we love the car and wouldn't want to see it go or the money we would no doubt loose, it's a beaut. We are also fortunate that I have a company car that is an estate and a VW T5 so as long as wife, child, and buggy fit in the S3 some how it stays.

I managed 2 kids with their seats and associated kit in my MINI Clubman S fitted with recaros. They're now 9 and 5 plus I've got a basset hound so spoilt for room in the S3. Get yourself to mothercare and play around with which seat fits through behind the recaros and you'll be set to keep the S3 👍

Personally even though a 3 dr car can be used with a baby seat in the back, it's a lot easier with 5 doors. Especially it they've fallen asleep and you're putting them in the car without unnecessarily disturbing them and making sure all the straps are tight.

I went from a 3dr A3 to a 5dr S3 when the 1st came. Took our pram with us to check it fits. Baby 2 is on the way now and think will stick with the S3 as can't afford an SQ5 at the moment. Luckily we are moving closer to the parents so won't be as much of a trek visiting going forward

I have a 3dr and I have no problems whatsoever with space and my little lad is now 13 month old!

He's happy enough in his own little recaro young expert plus on isofix base, missus never complains either!

I've got the same seat and even with 5 doors it's a struggle getting the seat in as it's quite heavy and find it needs to be connected to the ISOFIX base before the base slots onto the car.

That's good you have no issues. If I had a choice bet 3dr and 5dr then I would always have 5dr as its easier. Although not saying it's impossible with 3dr.

Useful today for me - went to a car wash and the boy was a bit startled by the pressure washer but easy for the missus to jump in behind me and calm him down. I didn't need to get out and let her in.

Well having only been offered part ex deals on anything from Pug 107s to Seat Leons, but no cash offers, im relieved to say i'm going to stick with the S3. Will see how it pans out with the newborn when the time comes, but until then, I'll make the most out of the S3 :)

Given the fact i'm keeping the S3, its time to start looking into baby seats. Can anyone point me in the right direction as I have no idea! The Recaro one looks good, but we'll need something suitable for a VERY young baby ha.

Isofix solutions for newborns are expensive, much cheaper when they get a bit older (9+ Months).

You always have the option of putting a rear facing newborn seat on the front passenger seat (turn the pass airbag off inside the glovebox!) and the missus can get in the back. That way there would be no trouble clipping the car seat in each time.

There alternative, if isofix is too expensive for you is to get a combo system which had a base which is permanently attached to the car (via seat belts) and the car seat just clips in - it also clips into the buggy frame too.

Cheers for that.

Quite like the idea of a rear facing one as it would make life much easier I think, for this car anyway.

As with most things, so much choice !...

If the isofix is your system of choice, I'd recommend a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix car seat for a newborn.

I've always used this and had enough clearance for putting in the back of my 3 door S3.

Id also advise buying a pram which folds up as small as possible as many will pretty much fill the boot very quickly.

Thanks Tay... does your S3 have the standard front seats or the Recaros? Just need to find out what will fit through the gap.

We had the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix in our as well with the isofix base.

It was very easy to clip in and out and there was just enough space to get it out with the front seat pushed forward.

We went for the Quinny Buzz 3 Travel System, VERY impressed with it.

Cheers Nilz. Just watched a review on the Quinny Buzz 3, looks good.

Am I right in presuming the Maxi Cosi seat is compatible with the Quinny Buzz 3? Or am I talking rubbish?

Right chaps, the time has come to sell. As well as a baby on the way, looks like we're moving house soon and could do with the money towards our deposit.

So if anyone knows of anyone with an interest in going for an S3... they could do a lot worse than mine.

Other than what is stated in my old eBay add at the top - its got a few more miles on it (now approx 62K), and is now due a service. I can either get the service done or reduce the price further.

Any help much appreciated :)

Hi chaps, 3 months until the little one is due, so last chance before reluctantly advertising elsewhere...

Recent service.
MOT last week.
No issues whatsoever.

£11,300.

In my opinion you'll be hard pressed to find a better example. If interested, please check old eBay listing at the start of the thread for details. Not much has changed - just slightly higher mileage at about 63K.

Thanks for looking :)

Does anyone know of a way I can update the title of the thread? Thanks.

Thank you very much mate :)

Love those buckets, an amaizng car and sad so see her go:/ GLWS

Yes, me too, they will be missed ! Its the best car i've had the pleasure of owning, and probably the best I will for some time !

However, i've been to see a car last night that I really like, so could do with moving the Audi on. If anyones wants a stonking bargain, and i'd like the car to go to an enthusiast on here, how does £11,200 sound?

Well the S3 went to its new owner on Saturday. Sad in some ways, but looks like its gone to a good home.

Straight after the sale I went to collect its very different replacement...

Took some getting used to, but I like it ! Very chilled out drive and comfortable. I no longer tense up when driving over the many horrendous potholes. Must be getting old :/

Nice car to drive...I had the 4.8is

They're a lot of car for the money now...

Hi Ron,

I bet that was thirsty?? But quick?

Yes mine is the 3.0D. I had looked at them a few weeks ago but the high tax put me off - but strangely this one is cheaper than the later models. My mates 56 plate is £480 odd, this 55 plate is £280?? I would have thought a newer model would be more eco friendly.
