S1, my next car

I personally think the back end looks horrible. Couldn't go from an A3 to that.
 
depends on the weight I think, I recon it'd make a bonkers little car with some mods. Imagine 400bhp in that tearing round a roundabout like a little rally car.

and then you crash and wish you where in an a3 a4 lol... but yeah it would be fun but i wouldnt fit not at 1.88meters

Could be fun,but why are Audi obsessed with 5 doors(inc boot of course!).

Why not a proper 3 door hatch,+/- rear seats,and then you can have some fun.

If it weighs around 1200kgs,it would be great fun.

I agree. The 3dr option is the way forward. Rear seats out, rollcage in, make something proper mental. Like a crazed little puppy. I'm also hoping they roll out an RS with the 5cyl ... now that i'd sell a kidney for.

Also, curb weight on the A1 quatto was about 1100-1200 iirc :eyebrows:

Yes....did a bit of digging around and found likely weights around 1200kgs,which is a significant reduction over the S3,unless you start pulling the seats out etc.

Which I am considering....!...rear seats are worth nearly 60kgs,and the fronts are another 40kgs when replaced with something lighter.

Seriously though,the S1 looks like a really good development,except it will have the latest encrypted ECU etc,so that will hamper development unless you like tuning boxes.
 
C'mon let's just build an open-source, line compatible MEDxx ECU ... how hard can it be? Just a bunch of graphs and sh1t

If it was only that easy I guess!

The average ECU now reads so many factors,and the engine has sensors everywhere(and don't I know that from the overfuelling issue we had last year),that it would likely be a task that only the likes of Revo,Shark and a few others are up for.

There are a number of aftermarket ECUs around,but tying those into an engine is an equally daunting task I would think.

Have to wait until the on-board ECU has been cracked.

I'm not renting my engine out!

I think that tuning the new ECU and engine is proving to be a bit of a sod with the encryption but I'm sure someone will get there,and until then I'm happy with the S3.

once a few option boxes are ticked its probably S3 territory anyway.

And the S1 uses the K03 turbo , so do you think its at the top end of tuning for this turbo , any more power and the K03 could run out of puff.

Ahhh...crafty Audi.

Put the weeny turbo in so it won't get near to the S3,and then encrypt the ECU some more.

Yea I have seen one in the flesh (the quattro not the clubsport), all LHD tho IIRC. They do look amazing though.

The A1 clubsport for Worthersee was a quattro with the 2.5L from the TTRS. That was bonkers. The A1 quattro was the 2.0T, and looks like the new S1 is pretty much the A1 quattro with a tweaked face.

Some lovely attention to detail in it but I wouldn't really want a LHD daily driver in the UK. Other than that it was very nice, but I seem to remember when it was tested on track it wasn't that quick:

also 1420KG!!!! what the ****, hope the S1 is well under that.

As it's not been 'Ultra' concept adapted yet I don't think it will be much under 1400kgs
 
1420kg's that's almost s3 weight...but i love it's looks and that red bit in headlight is really cool :D
