Hi
My S3 has Porsche calipers on the front from a 996? I need new brake pads as the brake pad warning light keeps glowing then going off.

My question is which brake pads do i need? I can get a pic up id that helps?

Thanks

what you need is a part number mate. If you look on the front face of the caliper you'll find a part number starting in 996.

If you get that part number we can help you :)

Hi I've had a look, part number is 996.351.425.

Also would you know discs have been used?

Thanks for the reply

Brake upgrades is a current area im looking into however i have had some great advice and help from another forum member who knows his stuff when it comes to brakes and that's tom, his user name is 'future' might be worth asking him directly via pm.

Just seen the reply, sorry for the delayed response mate.

Your other caliper will end in part number 426 :)

They are from the front of a 996, either a carrera 2, carrera 4, or a boxster S. I would imagine on your car they will be running on a 330 x 28mm disc.

You can ask for pads for any of those cars at your local motor factors, or search online for performance pads.

Thanks for the replies guys. What car is the 330 x 28mm disc from? would you know?

the 330 x 28mm disc will be from an alfa brera, but the PCD is incorrect and has to be re-drilled to suit the 5 x 100 hubs on your car.

It's possible to buy the discs direct from Hi-Spec and have them re-drill the PCD for £50 before sending them out.

Alternatively, you could get a set of 2 piece discs from the likes of badger5 if you wanted to spend a bit more :)

Hi Prawn,

Cheers for the info. How do i get in contact with Badger5, to get a quote for the discs?

I had a set of those calipers and was planing to run them on the 312 stock discs... never got the idea off the ground though... it was a few years back now ,

Run best on a 28mm Disc Paul. there are now carriers available directly off ebay to fit these with the brera 330 discs. Actually a pretty simple straight forward swap now :)

No huge advantage to these over LCR brembos really, but they do look nice :)

I made a **** up when buying parts... wanted to run them with LCR discs... Bill broke the news to me it wasnt doable... swept area on the disc was too small for the pad face...
It was for my 'charged VR6 that was on 17's so space was an issue and i lost heart and sold them to buy a GT jnr kit.
