A bit embarrassing having to post about a job that should be dead simple, has anyone that's fitted one had issues getting the blanking cap fitted over the hose connection?

I can't for the life of me get the o ring inside the cap to slot over the hose connection, it's just far too tight and I can't get it pushed in enough to put the allen keys in place. I tried smearing some oil over the connection and the o ring but still it won't go!

How did everyone else get these on? I had a foot up against a wall with my hand on the cap trying to push it on along with a very red face! Haha.

Here's a picture of the cap in question:

Mine went on dead easy, you sure it isn't on

Not exactly sure what you mean? It's definitely not on correctly as the holes for the allen keys won't go past the knotch that was for the hose clip. Seems to me like the o ring is too thick so it can't compress enough to slide over the top of the hose connection.

Somethings not right if they are supposed to go on easy that's for sure!

I put some Vaseline on mine and pushed it so far then twisted until it pppped on.
Ive since removed mine as my car didn't like it much.
Lost its smoothness and felt of on overrun.

Take O ring off to see Of cap will push on without it. If it does then all points to perhaps XSA of O ring is wrong.

Yes or put the ring in boiling water to make it softer, don't put any screws in until its on

Could this cause a boost leak if it isn't fitted correctly? I've had a boost leak for a while and the only thing I've changed in that time is fuel pump and the front pcv delete.

I had no issues with this part of the install, it was the easy part. The top part, getting the piping onto the new silver end was a bit of a ******!

That's a bit worrying as ive just installed mine a few days ago. Could you give more detail on the symptoms you felt please?

Its funny you should mention this. I thought the couple of runs after installing the PCV kit that my car just wasnt "as" aggressive as it was. I thought maybe I was just imagining things as its very windy and wet here at the minute and put it down to that.

How did you diagnose that you had a boost leak??

Yes that bit was a bigger to get on as well :p I have VCDS and it said I have a boost leak. No lights though apart from another issue that I have...

My concerns were on light throttle I found it hesitant and just not as smooth as before, because of this I found myself trying to compensate the hesitation.
My cap was fitted correctly yet the car felt slower than before.
After doing 30 miles I removed it and went back out and the car was back to how it was so I left the oem one on and sold my revamp.
Wasn't happy with how tight the clip on pipe was on to the silver union needed a lot of lube and working to attach correctly.

Hmm ok. Well I really appreciate you sharing this experience. I will have to keep my eye on this. Hopefully the OP find this relevant to their thread (sorry for hijack!).

MxGaza33, here are some pics I took of my kit fitting. Hope you dont mind me posting? Maybe some of them could be useful for reference.

Mine was tight but with some lube and working it carefully it went on eventually, it is a tight seal/fit.

Contrary to that i've found mine to be smoother with it fitted.

Thanks for those, I'm about to go and try putting the o ring in boiling water and apply some Vaseline to see if I can get it to 'pop' on.

The hesitation issue sounds odd, I'm hoping it will be an improvement over the standard PCV as mine was leaking from one of the hose clips and spraying oil out. Plus being Shark stage 3 and it being a common part to fail, it seemed like a good idea!

Well that did the trick! Popped on after I gave it a twist.

I would take it for a test drive but I've just now noticed that there's fuel dripping out of the HPFP! The end of one thread and the start of a new one!

If your still having problems mate pop over to me when you have time and will see if my end cap fits as mine just slid on no problem and the allen key screws tweaked no probs.
