Hi all, I am considering getting the sat nav into my car but what I would like to know is. How do they update the SD based nav and also can someone tell me all the options it comes with.

ps I am trying to convince my wife :)

Don't the dealers have to do it now rather than. The old DVD upload????

I'm sure someone may know a hack to do it by SD, try googling SD card hack MMI Audi Nav (or something similar). Don't have mine yet so can't say.

Sorry I may have wrote the question wrong. I am considering getting the sd card and activated at the dealers just need to know how I can update it later and the options that come with the nav system.

I've been looking at Audi's information regarding the SD card-based Sat Nav option, but one feature not mentioned is the facility to show a picture of the upcoming junction on motorways and other major roads, and in which lane you should be taking, a function which I have on my Garmin Nuvi 765 sat nav, and find very useful.

Looking the A3 brochure, it appears that this feature is available on the Technology package HDD sat nav plus system, but it doesn't mention this for the SD card-based system.

Can anyone confirm if this feature is available on the SD card system?

It did on my 2013 A7 with standard SD Nav. I believe A3 is same set up.

I don't have my car yet, but I would assume that updates would work in the same way as previous Audi Dvd based systems I.e. you would buy an updated SD card with the latest road data and slot it into the system.

That's nice of them at VAG for their VW cars, I'm pretty sure I've seen the same for skoda too.

Audi require you to have the tech pack!

You will not be able to go into Audi without paying a small fee for them to update. If someone finds out then I doubt we can talk about it here on the forums.

I have the SD card system and the sat nav has the lane guidance system.

I aint talking about doing anything illegal just asking if it can be updated online like the VW systems or having to pay out more for an updated SD card from a dealer.

I too have the SD sat nav, great system, great to use as it's at dash/eye level on the pop up screen, well worth the cost in my opinion.
