Steering wheel vibration

Hi folks

Getting vibration at speed through steering wheel, exactly like the wheels were not balanced correctly, I needed new tyres anyway so treated myself to a new set of rims too! Which I watched being balanced and are all spot on, however the vibration is still there, so is there anything else that could cause similar vibration to that of imbalanced wheels? Maybe wheel bearing?

Good call out mate one more to check when looking at bearings and control arms, my disks are well down little lip on them and some vibration under braking, I'll be changing these soon, however the disks being worn or even warped would hardly throw the balance out and cause this vibration?

Sounds like the vibration isn't to do with the wheel balance, more like a steering bush as I said, or even a top suspension mount.
I had a VW Golf Mk4 that started vibrating out of the blue, thought someone had put a "rabbit" under the bonnet, turned out to be the top suspension mount, are you still under warranty?
 
Very interesting mate and apt for the golf as it's called the rabbit is America lol :) not under warranty car is from 2008 with 81k on the clock, so guess it's bushing time :O

Let me know the outcome mate, hope it's an easy fix.

Hi everyone

Have checked all I can think of, wheel bearings, control arm bushings, shock top mounts, had new alloys rebalanced and alignment done at different place, still have vibration at speed mainly noticeable on motorways attempt, under or over this and is considerably less apparent/not there which sounds like a wheel Balancing issue but it isn't!
 
I had the same problem brought new wheels and tyres and got it balanced up all right then took it to my old boss to see if he knew what was making it vibrate and he jacked the front drivers side up and told me to put it in 4th and slowly lift the clutch up and it started shaking.. So I took it to get balanced and it went away a little bit .. But I found it was defo the drivers side making the car to vibrate.. Changed me wheel bearing and it seems to be a lot better still a little bit of vibration there but nothing I can't cope with :) audi said it could be the driveshaft because there is a bit of play in the joint but there's ment to be a bit of play lol ..
