I, in no way condone speeding, but do they really think I'm going to stop speeding just 'cos they keep fineing me??!!

I was doing 142 km/h in a 100 km/h three carrigeway ring road near Gronningen, that's only 24 mph over!!

I hate this country!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif and it's speed cameras!

Do you just get a fine, or points etc. as well?

Bad luck anyway mate! I'm fighting a speeding fine over here at the moment from a dreaded SPECS camera!

No points just a whacking great fine everytime.

Oh I forgot to mention I've only just payed my fine from last month which was €187, so I'm not a happy bunny, no food this month /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

At least you don't get points. I got banned for a year! for 4 lots of motorway speeding in 3 years. I would prefer a heavier fine with no points, as the ban nearly cost me my job, and hidious amounts of train & taxi fares. I felt like I'd been castrasted, always having to rely on other people.
Suck it up dude, try driving for a year without going over the speed limit, it's impossible, actually try driving for a day.....

Out of interest, what do you have to do to get a ban in the Netherlands?

Where was the SPECs site Moresauce?

The fine really sucks Daniel, but if the Krauts would've nailed you, it would've been a 30 day suspended license /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked2.gif

But DAMN, that's a good sized check to write /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I am informed that it's 50% over the speed limit then you get an immediate ban/have to go to court. I let you know when it happens....maybe next month /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif

gambba totally of topic but! what the hell is you gif a picture of...been trying to firgure it out for ages....wierd!

Personally I would rather take the risk of a fine than get bl**dy points!

While a fine is a pain and $$$$ at least it doesn't hang over you for 3 years like points do.

Moff - on the Nutall road, where there sems to be sixteen cameras on both sides of the road, despite the fact it is wide as Rick Waller! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif

I'm glad someone's been wondering!! It's a powershift transmission out of a Caterpillar/Mitsubishi/Nissan Forklift amongst others. I did it whilst playing with our 3D software which converts CAD drawings into 3D pictures which are dimensionally acurate and can be played with /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's kind of addictive sometimes, just to play.

Here in SA we just get big fines but the government is
implementing a points system next year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif cos
fines doesn't stop feckall.

Well for all of those of us in the UK, we may well have to bend over and take another seeing to from the government. to save explaining i'll just copy and paste from THE TIMES web site:

If ever there were an invitation to put your foot down, this is surely it. According to leaked Cabinet papers, David Blunkett has proposed adding a £35 surcharge to every speeding fine and putting the money into a fund to compensate the victims of crime. Open the throttle on the M40 in future and not only will you have a bit of fun, you will have to smug satisfaction of knowing that £35 of every fine goes to good causes.

I can hardly wait /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif

When I got my 6 point many years back I spent the next 3 years driving at the speed limit about 95% of the time. That was *all* roads. I took it as a personal challenge as I didn't want more points in that time. Difficult, yes, very very difficult. My MPG went up over 10% /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Now I almost always drive at the limit (>95%) in 30s and 40s as I've become so used to it. Other limits, well, it depends /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you remeber I posted some time ago I got caught doing 135 in a 100 (kph) zone in Switzerland in march 2002, well the fine arrived a few weeks ago (it went into court).
404 € fine
135 € for the court case
135 € administrative costs for the 2-month ban I got

I hate swiss cheese!

I can't condone driving at the limit in 30's & 40's, surely that's how you got the six points in the first place!

They banned you from driving in Switzerland I take it? Not Belgium /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

****** Swiss border guards confiscated my radar detector, I'd only had it 2 days, and fined me £120. Machine gun toting gestapo. Neutral my ****!

Yeah, just in Switzerland thank God... I'm still wondering whether I should pay them or not. If I don't, they can't really do anything to me but the Belgian police will pay me a visit once in a while to urge me to pay and I can never go to Switzerland again.
I have been told by people that lived in Switzerland that in fact the police there are something of a gestapo, always carry machine guns for the most trivial tasks, don't listen to arguments,... And what's more, the Swiss themselves seem to be *peep*holes as well. For example, in Belgium, if the police is stopping cars then most of the time you will be warned by cars coming towards you flashing their lights. In Switzerland, they would so to speak urge you to drive even faster...

The ban is only when you are a repeater.
The first time you just pay a huge fine and get your licence(and car) back without too much trouble.

idea what to do with cameras?
