New to the forum so sorry if this is a common question or newbie of me to ask.

So I am looking into getting an Audi A5 3.0 diesel and then modifying it as you do.

So my question is about remapping and exhaust options for stage 2. I know there are many tuners that offer remaps and what not for stage 2 but with this new MOT about DPF's being removed means that I would need some way of passing MOT when the time came. So my thought is to get a swappable map/exhaust so that when the MOT is due switch the map back to standard along with the DPF.

I seen that Superchips have a Stage 2 Bluefin for the 3.0 diesel but wanted others opinions on it since I've heard that their figures aren't accurate? Supposedly stage 2 you should only see between 290-300 not the 330 they claim? not sure if this is accurate or not.

Any advice, thoughts or links to related/similar threads would be greatly appreciated :) many thanks

I dont get all this "stage 2" stuff.

Im going to take my 4.2 V8 diesel (when im rich) to a reputable tuning company and get a full turbo back, DPF delete and a custom map. As for the DPF - find a "nice" garage or just get a delete that incorportes the external look of a DPF, i.e cut it open and whack a pipe inside!

Kinda scared about how much power the 6 speed tip can handle though, id be over 400bhp and 650+ft lb with a custom map O_O!

Job done!!

What dont you understand exactly? Some tuners offer different stages for your car, usually Stage 1 is just a map with no hardware, stage 2 is map with exhaust giving you more gains and stage 3 is exhaust, map, intercooler and possibly a fuel pump but depends on what tuner you go to. I am just wanting Stage 2 since I will be doing a 50/50 with looks and performance. Ideally around 300bhp would suit me fine and I believe stage 2 is between 280-300 but superchips say their stage 2 is 330 but unsure about this since I am new to the audi scene and dont know too much about performance gains.

Also would just knocking out the internals of a dpf give the same gains?

I wouldnt have thought knocking the dpf internals would be the same as a remap. Probably gain a few horses though. Ive got one and two cats i want to get rid of!

All sounds a bit ''ohh **** stage 3 son'' to me, if you catch drift. Im undecided where i want to for a remap yet

yea i guess but wouldn't the flow be affected somehow since the dpf i assume is wider than the rest of the piping and would somehow not push the exhaust fumes through as much as it could and what not out the back of the car? Im no expert at all so this could all just be rubbish but just a thought?

Correct, it's all about gas speed.

Any hollowed out cat or dpf creates a void where gasses slow down and cool, that's why manifolds and downpipes are heat wrapped.

Keep the heat, keep the speed.
