2.5TDi V6 quattro Sport 180hp Turbochip

That's a bumpy ride Matt, i have a little scrubbing when the suspension is bottoming out on the front, i need to get stiffer springs- have them already on another car i am breaking ! Also noticed the car tends to tramline a lot more than the allroad on the same wheels, i need to fit a pair of s4 solid track rod ends and do a geometry check ! Had 15mm H&R spacers on the back but the tyres were too close to the wheel arch for comfort- had a v6 tdi engine in the boot ! They don't rub at all with 10mm spacers !

Well, I have just read the whole thread and it has been an epic journey so amazed at the dedication it reminds me of when I started my build on a Gtir pulsar back in 1999 took me 3 years but it ended with 447bhp and 440 ftlb of torque!

Thank you for kind words, however i cannot take credit for the work Martin's done on it, i just smoothed the rough edges ! Going to swap front springs today with 2.7TT Eibach springs- if they don't work better then i will just roll the arches. Also bought a pair of TRW s4 front track rod ends and might get these fitted at the same time... Will report back with results/pictures and might try and take a video of the car on a drive !

Fitted 2.7tt front eibach springs and they are exactly the same part number as the tdi springs ! As you would expect- no difference whatsoever so i need to roll the front arches to gain a few mm clearance and maybe grind the uprights a few mm + use a 5mm spacer instead of the 10mm spacer i have at the moment. Also been on a nice motorway drive to Bracknell- Berkshire and the car behaved very nicely and returned 46Mpg as well. Had a new a3/s3 chasing me on m4 at some point- couldn't keep up with me at times...

you have contakt when wheel gos up at bumpy?if i understand correctly, you can ad a piece of damper on shock absorber shaft plus, and it works whit stock springs and wont reach wheel arch.

Yeah, i could fit a SE model bump stops, however i don't think that's a solution as the car will be bouncy and the polyurethane rubber stops won't last too long ! I need to roll the arches or fit a thinner wheel spacer + grind a little bump in the suspension arm. Sometimes i wished i had v8 wide arches, might look for a pair and have it all retrofitted if possible- my dad is a panel beater by trade- i am sure he'll find a way to do-it ! Thanks for suggestions...

Sold the little hybrid 2056 i been running for a few weeks and a set of nozzles to another forum member- he was very, very pleased with how his allroad goes now ! Ordered a new set of injector nozzles so i will fix that straight away...

frend puted 18" rims on passat b5, suspencion the same like audi c5. he decide lower car for bether look, but did not want lose original softness. so We decided cut of a piece of absorber holder, 2cm and weld again. The height was perfect softens to, but then rim started reach top of arch inside, whell was going 2cm uper, so we aded 4-5 cm piece of original damper(bump stops) at shaft. and it helpt, car is about 2-3 years on road and it wourks 168883 x600

I have lowered the car on Eibach springs and genuine s6 sports/heavy duty shock absorbers, the ride is sublime just the tyres touch the inner arch a little on full lock if i give it some beans. Eibach and sports shocks offer a sublime ride- not bone crushing and nice road holding at the same time ! As i said above, getting rid of the 10mm spacer i have at the moment and grinding a little of the upright + rolling the arch a little might give me enough clearance without sacrificing the ride quality, if it does not work then i will take the shock and fit SE bump stops...

Not much happening later, just driving the car and enjoying it really ! Bought a RNS E for it a couple of days ago and went to pick it up from Ashford, the car behaves faultlessly ! I have a couple of oil leaks from engine covers, need to sort them out before they get too bad. Still a bit smokey but the boost from the 66mm compressor wheel is relentless, 80-120 Mph is comical ! It feels as fast in gear than the v8 s4 saloon i have !
On the way back had a tyre blow, tyre wall just ripped apart, it's only done 500-1000 miles !

New matching tyre fitted today, bought it from a tyre shop in Mitcham, south london. Nice drive on the way and stood 2 hours in traffic on the way back- my knee is killing me from pressing the brake and accelerator pedal for that long ! I was just feeling a tad better after injuring my knee a few weeks ago...

Finally dynoed the 535d
Peak torque a little under the old A6 and higher up the rev range with the Celtic Tuning remap, consequently an animal on the motorway, peak power, well as they say theres no substitute for cubes

That's a very nice power graph ! I need to take your old car to a good 4 wheel dyno to see what it puts out now, just don't have much time + i need to sort a few oil leaks ! You're 100% about the displacement thing...
I am getting a gtb2260vklr- ball bearing cartridge, machined to fit standard gtb2260vk exhaust housing, one of my mates has a 2.0tdi with a gtb2060vklr and it's savagely fast, the turbo spools a good 400rpm's quicker than normal journal turbos ! The car has undergone massive but subtle changes since i got it from you...
Well done Martin !

Fettled a little with the stop screw and actuator and it's miles better, the VNT pack was open for much too long wasting energy instead of spinning the turbine... Anyway, it's comical to watch the speedo climb faster than the revs, i know exactly what you mean when you mentioned animal on motorway ! The a6 pulls nothing as you knew it, it has a much larger turbine and a 66mm compressor, it's laggy from a rolling start but once it's on the move i can get the 20" wheels to spin ! Dumped the clutch from 3000 rpm from a stand still the other day, the clutch did not slip but the flywheel did not like it much ! My mate in the passenger seat nearly went trough the windscreen when the wheels gripped !
I think i need to look for better pads soon or swap the brakes from the allroad, i can cook the pads on a spirited drive, people think the car's on fire when they see smoke coming out from the brakes !

One of the reasons i went for the hybrid turbo rather than a larger one was i did not want to lose the low down pull in favour of top end power. The car is geared for a bit over 150 from memory so i just wanted to get enough top end power to get it to redline in top. You must be pushing 300hp with that turbo now, but not sure what your torque figures are going to be. Will be very interested to see a dyno run.
Celtic have just bought and are in the process of commissioning a 4WD dyno in their Roche workshop at the moment, will save having to haul to Plymouth for any of you Cornwall quattro drivers out there

That's the thing with turbo's, you get to a point when you need to go higher in size or go twin turbo/compound ! I was thinking to see how the VKLR turbo will do for a while, if i can shed 200-300 rpm's to get it on boost then that's fine with me ! A couple of months ago i had a nice hybrid made, used bits from a beemer and a mercedes 320CDI, it had newer turbine and a 56mm compressor with 45mm trim/extended tip technology ! That was the only time the car did not smoke and i could keep up with a tuned prodrive VRX till i hit overboost in 4th gear ! Plant your foot at 100Mph and it would have pinned you in the seats- never got to drive it flat out but the chap i sold it to got his allroad fitted with Bosio PP683 to over 140Mph and it wasn't tuned for the extra fuel or larger turbo- just had a generic remap ! Now the allroad is geared for lower speeds compared with the a6...

Hi adamss24! Please can you tell me if the pressure plate from RS4 fit to the flywheel of 2.5TDI? And is there any problem or can I drive with this setup? And one more question: Why do you use organic disc from RS4 and not from Sachs Performace or new original stock? Is it stronger or what? Can you give me some pics of the RS4 organic disc ?
Thank you in advance!

Hi, the rs4 clutch is a Loba/Sachs Race Engineering clutch which is a upgraded clutch with a sprung hub and self adjusting pressure plate. It does not fit the 2.5 tdi flywheel as the dowels are thicker but that's easy to sort out by an engineering shop. I used the rs4 clutch disc with Sachs SRE pressure plate and LUK v6 tdi flywheel... I had a rs4 non sprung clutch and solid flywheel on a 1.9 tdi before and that was too grabby so i did not want the same on this car...

Thanks !!!
I suspect that the flywheel is replaced with a different model due to lack of self-regulating stronger pressure plate of "Sachs Performance" ? I.e. original flywheel of AKE engine does not fit with the pressure plate of "Sachs Performance" ?
Thank you in advance!

Flywheel is stock v6 tdi, there is no stronger option available yet, it does complain every once in a while but it holds so far...

Because there's no point in spending £500 on a clutch and have to pull the gearbox again to replace a worn flywheel ! You could just replace the clutch if the flywheel in yours is in good condition but i would not take any chances, buy cheap buy twice !

Clear! Thank You!
I did not understand what is the role of RS4 pressure plate of pictures ? Is it shot just for comparison or was it purchased for another vehicle?

The Loba clutch is a stage 2 clutch for b5 rs4, the clutch disc has a sprung hub (has the 6 springs to dampen the bite just like every other v6 tdi), the Sachs SRE has a solid clutch disc- i am not thinking to track the car + i want to save the flywheel from taking all the pounding... I bought both kits as it would have worked more expensive buying separate but i am not really fond of the self adjusting clutch, whilst smooth and consistent feel, i prefer to feel when the clutch bites, the SAC is too progressive and easy to slip hence going for the sprung hub disc and fixed Sachs Pressure Plate !
The rs4 flywheel has thicker locating dowels for the pressure plate, the v6 tdi has thinner ones hence not direct swap, however it's easy to get it machined/modified at a good machine shop !
This is an rs4 clutch fitted with a modified billet flywheel to a b6 1.9 tdi, vibrations killed the gearbox in the end:

Hi, very nice interesting thread and good read here guys, keep it going!

So Chris, from what I gathered you found winning combination for Allroads with AKE engines even without having to change map?
I think I know who to call when time comes

Thanks adamss24 !
Is the clutch pedal harder to step on after changing the stock clutch with the Sachs Performance? I'm interested in this because another colleague said that the clutch pedal of 1.8T is way harder to step on and I'm afraid that the clutch plate pump can die easily this way. Thanks in advance.

No mate, stock feel on the clutch ! It's a little grabby/juddery on take off but it's fine on the move and it's taken all i could throw at it so far ! The Sachs SRE clutches are very under ratted, Sachs claims 550 Nm, i ran 200Nm more without slipping ! Now, with the 66mm compressor wheel you get to 3000rpm's then when the turbo reaches full boost, you just hang on and keep the torque steer in check ! Even when it goes in limp mode it still pulls like mad !

Test driven a 2007 m5 v10 SMG, 500Bhp and ultra fast gear changes- it made me feel like Shumacher !

Sublime ride and engine note to die for + the active seats pinning you as you turned left or right... Mine it's not that far off however i cannot change gear in 0.2 sec !

Also 1600 miles services with very expensive fully syn. oils and 150 miles range on a tank- i think i will stick to my diesel for the time being !

Funny thing is the owner is looking for more power as he's got used to it, i think he's afraid of running costs, the car is on the 3rd gearbox !

Took the a6 on a very, very fast drive on the motorway, it started raining but i managed to get the car on about 140Mph without much bother. Much, much better top end than with the previous turbos and much more composed- the flywheel is groaning under stress but the clutch is holding pretty well so far ! Had one of my mates in the car and was just about to take a little clip but the rain came in and could not do a proper pull !

Had a race tonight with a mapped 3.0Tdi and i've blown his doors off... 'nuff said !

Chris, you maxed out bandwidth again...
The link should work as it's direct to the website...Yes, it's rather easy to reach bandwidth when you're linking pics on multiple forums !

Might be putting the a6 for sale, if i get a decent offer then i will leave all the bits on it as it is: turbo, clutch, brakes, rs6 interior, etc. 40Mpg average, all new suspension and low insurance bracket is a no brainer + recently rebuilt engine starts on the button without burning any oil or excessive smoke ! Only reason for sale is the arrival of the b6 s4- i have already a workhorse so just need a fast(ish) weekend toy !

You'll have to dyno it before it goes
Its lucky i'm up to my ears in new bathrooms and kitchen otherwise i'd be back

Might be keeping it still, for some reason my trade insurance policy does not want to insure "performance" cars so they only gave me 2 extra weeks cover for the s4 ! As much as i like the s4, 160 miles on a tankful is not an option but the noise the car it's making is sublime ! The map on the a6 tdi still needs work, i hit overboost in 3rd today chasing a mitsi evo then the idiot braked hard and nearly rear ended him ! The a6 NEEDS bigger brakes, might be taking the brembo's off the allroad then getting rolling road'ed before i sell the turbo next week- i have a few offers already !

Out of curiosity Chris how much turbo like this or modified one off standard AKE costs these days?
Mine will soon need recon, would be handy to know.
Then off course there also are injectors, pump, etc, etc.

It all depends on the spec really. In theory it should not be much difference between them, however as i use a mixture of parts they are sometimes hard to get 2nd hand in good condition. As a minimum i need a new VNT pack, new turbine and a new compressor wheel, full bearing kit and machining of the hot/cold sides.

I still have spares to build 2-3 gt 2056 or 2060 with very nice compressor wheels that will do 250 Bhp without bother. I will take my a6 to a rolling road today, managed to sort out my tune- had a sneaky single value boost limiter that did not allow me to get full boost and i was peaking at 2.6 Bar of absolute pressure ! My turbo is able to withstand 2.6 Bar of boost, matter of fact i am using it now with 2.2Bar but it does not have as much top end as before ! The map was tweaked by a good mapper in Germany so i have now 0 smoke throughout the rev limiter and power to keep up with scoobies !

Does anyone knows of a 4 wheel rolling road in London apart from the AMD in Thurrock/Lakeside one ?

How busy are you lately, I need to see you some time when you are available?

For the last month i was just rebuilding v6 tdi engines, i kinda got fed up with them ! Really, looking for a 4 cylinder to work on, had enough of v6 tdi/fsi, etc ! Just tuning a v6 tdi a4 which came to me all the way from Ireland, to this day it's the farthest away that ever graced my garage ! Car it's in for hybrid turbo, Sachs SRE clutch, LUK flywheel, front suspension arms, solid intercoolers and a map, Mike wants 300 Bhp minimum out of the set-up !
Went today to AMD for a power run but got there too late- 5.30 pm- so the guys did not want to move the cars they had in the shop just to get me on the rollers ! Might get there tomorrow if i find time...so far so good !
