Thought I would share some pictures, a little of the S3 boot, reversible mat and its hiding holes.
This is a bit of a change from the how nice, shiny, fast the car is.... Which by the way, the car is still very nice, pretty shiney and still very fast.
Its more an update for those considering the reversible mat, which is a general option and might be of use to other people who are considering this optional extra.
My car is a three door S3, which might have an impact on how the boot mat works but I doubt it and this should be usefull to all A3 owners, although I know not all versions get the storage pack, the boot mat I suspect is the same.
Overall the S3 boot is a decent size, it loses some spase with only the higher boot position.
Even beneath the floor there are a decent number of spaces for storing odds and sodds, even some spaces in the packaging. The car jack is located under the boot floor, as you would expect. The tools to remove the wheel nuts are not under the floor, they are neatly hidden in the right hand side of the boot behind one of the panels.
The 12v socket on the left is neatly positioned with its own little cargo net so you can put items there to charge away from the rest of the boot. This is also where the boot cargo net is stored. The boot flor has a nice feature where the bulges next to the lights hold the boot floor up when needed, also the boot floor is then above the two LED lights which might help on a dark night. Unfortunatly I think getting the jack out might require the boot floor to be lifted, seems a design problem when the jack sites and where the edge of the floor meet will interfere with each other.
The reversible car mat
In a few words, a waste of money.
More detailed explanation, the boot mats main extra feature is it will protect the whole boot floor when the seats are folded down, this is also its main problem, the extra thickness from this really gets in the way. It also seems to have a permenant curve at the ends.
It does have a nice bunper protector part of carpet that can flip out, but this seems to only be usable when the hard side is on show.
I have added some pics on photobucket for anybody who is interested.
There are a couple of the other bits of the car, close up of the wheel and S3 brakes, foot well, rear seat and mono pur, under seat lighting and heating
Dull photos yes, but might help somebody.
