Hi everyone,
I thought I'd posted this earlier but must have got distracted!
I'm picking the car up from Derby so it will be travelling to Wales anyway and the assumption about distance / mileage is right, it's driving road pleasure we're after to see what the s3 can do within the bounds of sensibleish running in.
Bristol is an interesting suggestion though as I drive past it on the m5 going to Cornwall about every 6 weeks or so but have never been in expect to Cribbs on pretty much every journey for a half-way cuppa and BK/KFC.
We're actually down in Cornwall at the moment and have just done one of our favourite routes down from Newquay to st Ives via the coast road and then over to Penzance and back. Lovely lovely scenery.
I'll get google maps open and start doing some planning of where to head for.

From Derby the A50/M6/A55 looks to be the best route into North Wales. A good few motorway and dual-carriageway miles to get things going and then onto the roads in Snowdonia.
As I said in an earlier post Beddgelert is a nice village and the Tanronnen Inn is a nice pub/inn to stay if you like than sort of thing. If you want a 'proper' hotel you will have to head into one of the larger towns such as Conwy, Bangor, or Caernarfon. Another good option for hotels is Betws-y-Coed. It has hotels of all sizes and prices.

I've just been looking at one of those videos - brilliant. I think the biggest problem is making sure you don't hit any sheep. I don't think it would do the car or the sheep a lot of good. The one I was looking as was:

That's exactly the way I go to North Wales whenever I go and I live in Mansfield.
I can't recommend North Wales enough for the roads. Last time I went was in my M3, there's plenty of tunnels too to hear the S3 popping and banging!
I've just come back from Cornwall and have to agree there are some fantastic roads and routes
The route to lands end is particulary good.

Wow, I'm loving that. Might need a few trips over there, the Z4 in the summer as well as the Ducati!

As a slight aside, I've lost count how many S and RS models I've seen in the last week down here. No doubt mainly visitors but even so, there are LOADS. Not seen a single M135i or S3 8v though, and only 1 M5.
We have taste in the West Country ;-)
You could try the M 49 on your way home . On M5 take the exit after Gordano services head for Wales and second severn crossing. Big roundabout at the end either take M 4 signed for London or if you enjoyed the 5 mile blast repeat in opposite direction .
Probably the M135 owners don't have the confidence in RWD in the wintry conditions ?
Had a Z4 once, great fun in the summer crap in winter.
