So my turbo has gone pop so the question is shall I get it repaired or upgrade? What's involved with the upgrade does it need Ecu upgrades etc. Will it give any better performance things like that, also cost wise for good upgrade is it massively expensive? Cheers. 2.0l tdi 170 by the way.

So no point in getting a turbo upgrade unless it's for power gains then? Will probably just get a quality refurb done on it then thanks.

Andy did you read that recent post, where the poster had gone through 2 turbos before they twigged it was blowing them through low oil pressure?

I've not mate I'll advise the garage but don't know if you remember I've an odd noise for a while which I'm guessing was the turbo packing in.

Is there any test for oil pressure so they can eliminate it or confirm it as the cause?

Take your car to a reputable tuner who can diagnose turbo, refurb and remap.

Turbos deffinately gone, not after any power gains so will trust the garage to have it refurbed as good as new been using this garage for a long time and they've never done me wrong, I'm more concerned about the coolant loss they fear may be a cracked head, was just curious as to weather a reconned turbo was worth it if an upgrade was around the same price.

Ref oil pressure test, they just remove the oil pressure switch and screw in their own gauge and see whats going on, not a big job depending where the pressure switch is? most cars right by the oil filter.

Ok cheers I'll get them to check.

Update their going to check the oil pump balancer issue out they think low oil pressure or a blocked pick up pipe has made the turbo go pop as the oil is like sludge, the sumps coming off and their going to investigate looks like I can add new hex bolt to the repair list, seriously regret buying this car now should of gone back to Lexus
