3.2 manual - lost all gears :(

Just a quicky, hoping someone might know my issue...

Got in the car this evening to nip to the shop before closing so I've food for my night shifts over Christmas. Found that I couldn't select reverse. Further checking proved I couldn't select any gear.

Car is a 3.2 6 speed manual 54 plate. It's been perfectly fine up until now but I suspect my last journey home caused the issue. Had to wade through quite a deep puddle on the way home from work this morning, as in 6-8 inches deep for a good 60 meters or so. The car got through okay and I carried on my way. When I came to a stop later on, after a minute or two of driving and changing gear, I noticed a slight judder when pulling away, as if I'd put it in third accidentally. It was in first though and after declutching to stop the judder I was able to pull away fine and the rest of the 10 minute journey home was trouble free.

So I'm suspecting the water has somehow caused the problem. No warning symbols are lit on the dash, car starts fine and everything else works okay. I can put the car in any gear when the engine is off but all gears are blocked with engine on. When I try to put it into gear it just hits a stop and I can feel a slight 'pull' on the engine, as if it's trying to slip into gear.

Not content with working nights, I'm now stuck with walking to the shops and having to ride my bike to work in the rain, merry bloomin' Christmas

Any clues?

Cheers chaps. Was thinking more clutch than gearbox, surprised it's gone just like that though, having been fine beforehand

Since having the car I've always thought the clutch was a bit on/off, very little slip. Surprised me as I've had racing clutches in my old Evo and S15 that have been more forgiving. Thinking about it, over the last few weeks or so there have been one or two occasions when it didn't seem to slip into 6th quite as easily as it had previously, in hindsight I'm guessing this was the warning signs. Car's done 47k miles, so not a huge amount, but not really sure when such things might crop up on these.

Was hoping someone might say, 'oh yeah, you just need to pull this fuse to reset it', or somesuch, but I've never been that lucky

That did the trick and all is good. I know brake pads often stick on after rain in that same way, so guessing a decent amount of moisture must have found its way into the flywheel/clutch area after going through the flood and did just that. It took a jolt when turning the engine over first time, usual sort of 'starting in gear' thing, but after starting it again, it went into gears just fine
