[SUP]basically be purchasing one of these in January just trying to get a feel on what to expect ? Been reading a lot of Old posts but a lot have just had there's fitted so wondering if anyone that's had it on for a while can comment please my car is a weekend car and I'm planning 2+ soon as money allows this :) good and bad points would be good, I've heard it heavy but Ill just double my leg workouts on my left leg at the gym hahaha

I am also interested in this as my Flywheel is on the way out and will need replacing soon, so was interested in completing a SMF conversion but have heard mixed reviews about doing this.

Some people say the dual mass flywheel helps smooth out the transmission of power before it reaches the gearbox and fitting single mass could 'potentially' damage the gearbox, especially on more powerful cars. I've also heard issues about increased vibrations due to a single mass flywheel conversion but then again, some say they have no issues at all.

One thing I've noticed when doing my clutch last weekend is that the O2Q 6 speed gearbox doesn't rest in a spigot on the end of the crank. This was a surprise as normally the input shaft goes through the clutch plate and locates somewhere on the end of the crank and supports the input shaft when under load. It must work as that is how they've done it but I can't help but think the lack of spigot will not help if you run a SMF as the shock load may be higher and perhaps the designed incorporation of a DMF with this gearbox meant they though they could get rid of the spigot location.

This is apart from any other NVH issues a SMF may create (most likely at idle and take-off).

I think it's mixed views what I've read anyways, spoke to graeme this morning he had no issues with his and the guy that's got his old car has had it a year with no issues,

I've got one. Had it on for about 8000miles now. Nearly a year. Been to Switzerland in it, and on all the pass'. Love it. It's like a dream. Don't have to work about the flywheel failing. Doesn't go hard like the dmf does after some hard driving. Only down side is the vibration through 2000rpm to 2500rpm. Worse on the higher gears, but if you've got a non res milltek it's not that noticeable really. Clutch is heavier. By quite a lot. Shocked me at first and will be the first thing you'll notice but after a week max you won't be able to tell unless you get in another car and back into yours. Your foot just adjusts to the weight. There isn't a much chatter to be honest. I'd be happy for anyone to come listen/feel it, but selling and someone's coming to look at it this Saturday. So might be gone. The vibration is what might put you off, but if your like me, listen to your music/exhaust then it doesn't bother me. Plus if I wanted I could just avoid that part of the rev range.

Haven't heard one of these going wrong as of yet. Whereas there been a few sach/oem dmf going wrong in the early days. That was the decider for me. Can't afford to replace the clutch after 6k.

Greame from GNJmotorsport is the man!! He sorted me out with mine and I've passed everyone who's asked about these onto him. He's doing a group buy a do believe. Get yourself into that. I'm sure he'll accommodate you.

It was Gfermer that instigated the clutch group buy in the 1st place.......lol. He's just getting all the info and tech stuff outta the way before he parts his cash to me and Graeme......lol

Thanks for the indepth review of it just wanted someone who has had it for a while to comment a lot of the older posts were people who had just had it fitted so it being heavy etc was getting mentioned, I have a 1.3 diesel corsa for work u can't even feel its clutch haha yeah I know graeme from my Vxr days him and mark have kindly set up a group buy after I left a few hints haha just hope it goes ahead no bad little saving will cover the cost of my realeae bearing at least, what about shifting at high revs ? Heard this has been an issue but also heard it could be the engine mounts needing upgraded? I have the revo full kit to go on before hand anyways, thanks again dude :) settled my mind on it

Never had a problem with shifting in high revs. And in the alps you'd notice. Haha. Yeah engine mount could do with changing as the engine twists and turns due to the power of stage 2+. Kind of clunks in first gear is you go from 1st to 2nd quick at the end of the rev range. But as you know, stiffer engine mounts will sort that.

Sorry brodster, didn't know you was involved. Didn't meant to cause any offence. I only had a quick glance at the group buy as I scrolled down past it.

Been and done that too :D managed just under 10minutes first time round with a full car (4people) luggage and fuel. Whilst over there went to Bruges, Amsterdam, cologne, Mannheim (German GP) then to nurburgring and Brussels before heading home. Was an amazing week. I'm sure you'll enjoy the nurburgring. Definitely a place to visit/drive round.

Cheers

Were going to plan our trip once the calender for the ring gets released no sure where were going to go yet, getting overnight ferry from
newcastle to Amsterdam that's as far as we have got. Really!? Every1 keeps telling me I will take about 20 mins to get round it, I watched a few videos looks pretty crazy likes lol

Yeah. Got the video on YouTube. Car was only at stage 1 aswell. Love to take it now at stage 2+. We was going to go from hull to Amsterdam but at 400quid a car, we drove down to Dover, over to Dunkirk, and back up to Amsterdam for less. Probably quicker too. Haha.
